Autonomous Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ideal implant should mimic native tissues such that it can integrate, sense, heal, and continue to function, i.e., be autonomous. Although early, there are good steps taken in this way, e.g., the development of stimuli‐responsive, self‐powering, self‐actuating, self‐healing, self‐regenerating, and self‐aware implants.

IFNγ regulates ferroptosis in KFs by inhibiting the expression of SPOCD1 through DNMT3A

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Keloid is benign skin tumor, and their curing is relatively difficult due to the unclear mechanism of formation. Inducing ferroptosis of keloid fibroblasts (KFs) may become a new method for treating keloid.

Quality of life in black African patients with keloid scars

open access: yesDermatology Reports, 2020
A keloid scar is a benign skin tumor and we aimed to assess the Quality of Life (QoL) of black Africans with keloid scars based on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI).

Research progress in the pathogenesis of keloids

open access: yesPifu-xingbing zhenliaoxue zazhi, 2023
During the process of skin wound healing, hyperproliferation of fibroblasts and excessive deposition of collagen in the extracellular matrix lead to the formation of keloid, a benign tumor with characteristics of aggressive growth.

Analysis Of Genetic Association Of TGFΒ1 And SMAD4 Genes With Keloid In Malay Population [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Keloid is a complex condition with environmental and genetic risk-contributing factors. Two candidate genes, TGFβ1 and SMAD4, located in the same signaling pathway are highly expressed in the keloid fibroblast cells. The present study investigated the

In vivo terahertz imaging to evaluate scar treatment strategies : silicone gel sheeting [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Silicone gel sheeting (SGS) is widely used for scar treatment; however, studies showing its interaction with skin and efficacy of scar treatment are still lacking.

Management of chest keloids [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2011
Abstract Keloid formation is one of the most challenging clinical problems in wound healing. With increasing frequency of open heart surgery, chest keloid formations are not infrequent in the clinical practice. The numerous treatment methods including surgical excision, intralesional steroid injection, radiation therapy, laser therapy ...

Globotriaosylceramide Gb3 Influences Wound Healing and Scar Formation by Orchestrating Fibroblast Heterogeneity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In superficial second‐degree burn wounds, Gb3 turns on genes related to papillary cells through the FGF2 signaling pathway. This increases the ability of cells to break down fibrin and decreases fibrosis, which ultimately prevents scar formation in burn injuries.

PIEZO Force Sensing in Vascular Biology: An Explosion of New Knowledge, Concepts and Opportunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Knowledge of the remarkable mechanical force sensing and electrically transducing PIEZO1 and PIEZO2 channels is discussed across vascular biology and its cell types from the embryonic to adult stages in health, disease and old age. How the channels work, relate to other factors and signal for tissue responses to mechanical forces is debated.
