A film of tuberose polysaccharide supports normal epidermal keratinization by suppressing cytokine release induced by external stimuli

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
(a) Dry, rough skin has an immature stratum corneum prone to stimuli, triggering IL‐1α/IL‐1ra/IL‐8 release, keratinization defects, reduced ceramide NP/NS and lipids, scaling and poor hydration. (b) TPS forms a flexible reticular film, shielding the SC, lowering cytokines, normalizing differentiation, restoring lipids and improving texture and water ...

Sub‐Ultraviolet Reflectance and Ultraviolet‐Induced Fluorescence Dermoscopy Versus Conventional Dermoscopy for Facial Pigmented Lesions: A Multicenter Comparative Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
Summary of a multicenter study evaluating sub‐UV reflectance and UV‐induced fluorescence dermoscopy for the visualization of dermoscopic criteria in facial pigmented lesions. ABSTRACT Background Sub‐ultraviolet (sUVRD) and ultraviolet dermoscopy (UVFD) are emerging imaging modalities.

Advances in Cytosolic dsRNA Sensing of Viral Infections

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, EarlyView.
Activation of cytosolic dsRNA sensors by viral infection generates multiple outcomes. dsRNA generated during viral infection, either of viral origin or from endogenous sources, can activate multiple cytosolic dsRNA sensors. Activation of PKR critically induces protein translation shutdown via phosphorylation of eukaryotic translation initiation factor ...

Associations between diet quality and adult acne: A cross sectional study in the UK Biobank

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Mediterranean‐style diet adherence was associated with lower odds of adult acne, particularly in women. In men, a low‐carbohydrate, high‐meat dietary pattern showed higher odds. Cooked vegetables and yoghurt were inversely associated, whereas pork, skimmed milk and milk‐based desserts showed positive associations.

Targeted therapies in pemphigus vulgaris: Emerging horizons beyond rituximab

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Rituximab‐refractory pemphigus vulgaris is driven by B‐cell repopulation, plasma‐cell persistence, IgG4 autoantibodies and anti‐drug antibodies. This review evaluates five emerging targeted classes acting at successive steps of disease: next‐generation anti‐CD20 antibodies, DSG3‐CAAR T cells, BTK inhibitors, BAFF/APRIL inhibitors and FcRn antagonists ...

A posttranslational proteomic survey of a single anatomically preserved human 20‐week postconception brain

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
A well‐preserved 20 post‐conception week human brain was obtained and finely dissected into 18 anatomically distinct regions, including the pia mater. Each region underwent in‐depth proteomic analysis, encompassing both total protein content and post‐translational modifications.

Long‐Term Care of OLP Patients: A Retrospective Study From a Single Hospital Outpatient Clinic

open access: yesJournal of Oral Pathology &Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic immune‐mediated disorder with malignant potential. However, its real‐world clinical course remains incompletely characterized. This study aimed to describe the natural clinical–histopathological trajectory of OLP in a single tertiary centre and to identify factors associated with dysplasia and ...

Autoimmunity and Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
In a microbe‐driven inflammatory environment, peptidyl‐arginine deiminase (PAD) enzymes from neutrophils and Porphyromonas gingivalis citrullinate both microbial and self‐antigens. B cell presentation of citrullinated or self‐mimicking epitopes activates T cells that assist B cells in antibody isotype switching, affinity maturation, epitope spreading ...

Unusual Giant Sialocyst Arising From Wharton's Duct: A Case Report

open access: yesOral Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Head and neck masses in adults are a common reason for referral to maxillofacial surgeons and otolaryngologists, and most are benign. True salivary duct cysts (sialocysts) are extremely rare, accounting for < 1% of salivary duct lesions, and primarily involve minor salivary glands. Involvement of major salivary glands is exceptional,
