Kerr combs with selectable central frequency
Nature Photonics, 2011By controlling the group velocity dispersion of a microresonator through proper shape design, scientists generate a comb whose central frequency can be tuned throughout the transparency window of the microresonator host material.

Plasmonically Enhanced Kerr Frequency Combs
Advanced Photonics 2018 (BGPP, IPR, NP, NOMA, Sensors, Networks, SPPCom, SOF), 2018By coating optical resonators with metal nanorods functionalized with small molecule coatings, we fabricate an efficient frequency comb generator in the near-IR. Additional nonlinear behaviors, e.g. Anti-Stokes/Stokes generation, are also observed.

Plasmonically Enhanced Kerr Frequency Combs
ACS Photonics, 2017Optical frequency combs are high repetition rate, broad spectral bandwidth coherent light sources. These devices have numerous applications in many fields, ranging from fundamental science to defense. Recently, low-threshold and small-footprint frequency combs have been demonstrated using ultrahigh quality factor (Q) whispering gallery mode resonant ...

Partially Coherent Kerr Frequency Combs
Nonlinear Optics, 2013Chaotic and partially coherent microresonator-based parametric frequency combs are studied theoretically. It is shown that frequency filtering of the combs results in formation of high contrast optical pulses. The result explains earlier experimental observations.

Kerr Frequency Comb Stabilization and Locking
Advanced Photonics 2017 (IPR, NOMA, Sensors, Networks, SPPCom, PS), 2017We discuss several practical techniques for stabilization and frequency locking of Kerr frequency combs. Generation of spectrally pure 27.5 GHz signals with the relative frequency stability approaching 10−11 at 1 − 1000 s integration time is reported.

Frequency-Pair Correlations in Kerr-Frequency Combs
CLEO 2025We performed synchronized frequency measurements of the pump and two sidebands in different microcomb regimes. Soliton state exhibited an energy conservation with correlation limited by device precision, while primary comb showed deviations, suggesting additional mechanisms.

Normal group-velocity dispersion Kerr frequency comb
Optics Letters, 2011We show via numerical simulation that Kerr frequency combs can be generated in a nonlinear resonator characterized with normal group-velocity dispersion. We find the spectral shape of the comb and temporal envelope of the corresponding optical pulses formed in the resonator.

Nonlinear conversion efficiency in Kerr frequency comb generation
Optics Letters, 2014We analytically and numerically investigate the nonlinear conversion efficiency in ring microresonator-based mode-locked frequency combs under different dispersion conditions. Efficiency is defined as the ratio of the average round trip energy values for the generated pulse(s) to the input pump light. We find that the efficiency degrades with growth of

Optical synthesis using Kerr frequency combs
2017 Joint Conference of the European Frequency and Time Forum and IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium (EFTF/IFCS), 2017An InP-based photonic integrated circuit was demonstrated for offset locking an on-chip broadly tunable laser to a heterogeneously integrated optical frequency comb oscillator based on a crystalline whispering gallery mode resonator. Optical tuning within 60nm band is demonstrated.

Kerr frequency combs in the normal and anomalous regimes
2013 Conference on Lasers & Electro-Optics Europe & International Quantum Electronics Conference CLEO EUROPE/IQEC, 2013Optical frequency combs have recently attracted a lot of attention due to their various potential applications in spectroscopy, metrology, sensing, microwave and terahertz generation, etc. While generally created in femtosecond mode-blocked lasers, frequency combs can be generated by cascaded four-wave-mixing (FWM) in optical resonators through the ...
