Metabolic Stress Shifts the Function of KCa3.1 Channels in Pancreatic Beta Cells From a Regulator of Membrane Potential to a Proapoptotic Factor

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 359, Issue 10, October 2026.
KATP and KCa3.1 channels are the main components of the regulatory K+ current “Kslow” of pancreatic beta cells. In a diabetogenic environment, the KCa3.1 component of Kslow decreases, and the channel is dysregulated. A targeted pharmacological approach reveals that KCa3.1 channels are functional in mitochondria.

Synergistic transition from type‐I‐like to type‐II‐like symptomology in a pyrethroid mixture and its impact on knockdown–mortality relationships in Musca domestica L

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 10, Page 9614-9627, October 2026.
In the present study, relationship between knockdown and mortality of insecticides was examined against the adult female housefly, Musca domestica. Type‐I pyrethroid insecticides showed a weak linkage, as early knocked down flies did not always result in mortality, while type‐II pyrethroids and organophosphates exhibited strong correlation between the ...

Universality of infinite chess

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 133, Issue 4, October 2026.
Abstract We prove that chess played on the infinite chessboard Z2$\mathbb {Z}^2$ with infinitely many pieces is as powerful as it could possibly be, by showing that every open Gale‐Stewart game with draws is strategically equivalent to some infinite chess position and vice versa.
