BONE AND CALCULI IN THE COLLECTING TUBULES OF THE KIDNEY
Archives of Surgery, 1933In this paper the occurrence of bone in the human kidney in close association with parenchymatous stones will be described and its bearing on the theory of osteogenesis pointed out. The occurrence of bone in the kidney under experimental conditions has attracted much study since the original demonstration by Sacerdotti and Frattin 1 (1901).

AbstractIn the kidney of marine elasmobranchs, urea reabsorption from filtered urine is essential for maintaining high levels of urea in the body. In the kidney of the houndshark, Triakis scyllium, we previously found that a facilitative urea transporter (UT) is localized to a specific nephron segment, the collecting tubule, suggesting that the ...

The convoluted proximal and straight distal tubules and the medullary collecting ducts in kidneys of rats with ischaemic renal hypertension and with genetic spontaneous hypertension were studied by means of electron microscopic morphometry. The volume of mitochondria, the area of their cristae, of the outer surface and of membranes of the intercellular

Endosomes from kidney collecting tubule cells contain the vasopressin-sensitive water channel
Nature, 1988The mechanism by which vasopressin rapidly and dramatically increases the water permeability of target epithelial cell membranes is thought to involve a cycle of exo- and endocytosis during which vesicles carrying 'water channels' are successively inserted into, and removed from the apical plasma membrane of epithelial cells.

Cytokeratin distribution in the collecting tubules (CTs) of the rat kidney was studied by immunohistochemistry and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). After preparation of sections from formalin‐fixed, paraffin‐embedded tissue for immunohistochemistry, the remaining tissue was prepared for SEM.

Prominin-2 is a novel marker of distal tubules and collecting ducts of the human and murine kidney
Histochemistry and Cell Biology, 2010Prominin-1 (CD133) and its paralogue, prominin-2, are pentaspan membrane glycoproteins that are strongly expressed in the kidney where they have been originally cloned from. Previously, we have described the localization of prominin-1 in proximal tubules of the nephron. The spatial distribution of prominin-2, however, has not yet been documented in the

Following castration, the nucleus of the dark cells of the subcortical portions of the collecting tubules in the rat kidney showed two types of morphological alterations: 1) Decomposition of the nuclear membrane in a circumscribed area. This phenomenon is independent of the sex of the animal and becomes more frequent up to the 30th day after castration.

Bicarbonate transport in collecting tubules from outer stripe of outer medulla of rabbit kidneys
American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 1987The purpose of this study is to characterize the features of bicarbonate (total CO2) transport in isolated perfused collecting tubules obtained from the outer stripe of the outer medulla (OMCTos) of rabbit kidneys. Under control conditions (25 mM HCO3- in the perfusate and bath), all OMCTos studied absorbed total CO2 at a mean rate of 8.61 +/- 0.44 ...

IN the kidneys of various species, the collecting tubules are composed of two types of cells. These were apparently first seen by Heidenhain1, and described in subsequent years as light and dark (intercalated) cells2. The name given to these cells alludes to the fact that the cytoplasm of the dark cells stains with various commonly used dyes more ...

ESTIMATION OF TIME SINCE DEATH BY HISTOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF COLLECTING TUBULES IN HUMAN KIDNEY.
International Journal of Medical and Biomedical Studies, 2019Background: The current research histological changes in the Collecting tubules were examined at various postmortem intervals in the deceased human. In these research histological changes of tissue after death is influenced by P.M.I. atmospheric temperature and humidity, external and internal factors. Aim: To study the time since death by post ...
