DEVELOPMENTAL STUDIES ON THE KIDNEYS OF RABBITS [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Medical Journal - Giza, 2002
The development of the rabbit’s kidney was investigated during the pre and postnatal periods. The bilateral mesonephroi appeared in 11 days old fetuses as two masses bulging into the coclomic cavity; one on either side of the developing aorta.

Increased sodium transport by cortical collecting tubules from remnant kidneys

open access: yesKidney International, 1989
To determine whether intrinsic changes in cortical collecting tubule (CCT) transport contribute to the maintenance of sodium and acid-base balance after loss of renal mass, we studied transport functions in isolated perfused CCT from rabbit remnant kidneys.

In Vivo Clonal Analysis Reveals Lineage-Restricted Progenitor Characteristics in Mammalian Kidney Development, Maintenance, and Regeneration

open access: yesCell Reports, 2014
The mechanism and magnitude by which the mammalian kidney generates and maintains its proximal tubules, distal tubules, and collecting ducts remain controversial.

Identification of IQGAP1 as a SLC26A4 (Pendrin)-Binding Protein in the Kidney

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Biosciences, 2022
Background: Several members of the SLC26A family of transporters, including SLC26A3 (DRA), SLC26A5 (prestin), SLC26A6 (PAT-1; CFEX) and SLC26A9, form multi-protein complexes with a number of molecules (e.g., cytoskeletal proteins, anchoring or adaptor ...

Endogenous retinoic acid activity in principal cells and intercalated cells of mouse collecting duct system.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BackgroundRetinoic acid is the bioactive derivative of vitamin A, which plays an indispensible role in kidney development by activating retinoic acid receptors.

Expression of metallothionein in renal tubules of rats exposed to acute and endurance exercise.

open access: yesFolia Histochemica et Cytobiologica, 2006
The induction of exercise-induced apoptosis in not actively involved in exercise organs, such as kidney could be a result of oxidative stress. Metallothionein (MT) exerts a protective effect in the cell against oxidative stress and apoptosis.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Immunoexpression Patterns of Megalin, Cubilin, Caveolin-1, Gipc1 and Dab2IP in the Embryonic and Postnatal Development of the Kidneys in Yotari (Dab1−/−) Mice

open access: yesBiomedicines
Our study examines the immunoexpression patterns of Megalin, Cubilin, Caveolin-1, Gipc1 and Dab2IP in the embryonic development (E) and postnatal (P) mouse kidney, with a focus on differentiating patterns between wild-type (wt) and yotari, Dab1−/− (yot ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for
