Investigation of the Urinary Peptidome to Unravel Collagen Degradation in Health and Kidney Disease

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Naturally occurring fragments of collagen type I alpha 1 chain (COL1A1) have been previously associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), with some fragments showing positive and others negative associations. Using urinary peptidome data from healthy individuals (n = 1131) and CKD patients (n = 5585) this aspect was investigated in detail ...

The Role of Magnesium in Liver Cirrhosis

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Magnesium is a vital mineral involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions, crucial for physiological functions. Its deficiency, common in liver cirrhosis patients, correlates with poor outcomes by affecting inflammation, oxidative stress, fibrosis, and immunity. This review explores magnesium's role in cirrhosis and its interaction with disease mechanisms.

Controlling Drug Release From Supramolecular Polymer Surfaces by a Click‐To‐Release Reaction

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
We present a strategy combining reactive supramolecular additives with a covalent click‐to‐release reaction for localized drug delivery. A trans‐cyclooctene additive releases a cytotoxic drug upon tetrazine administration. Fluorescent monitoring confirms release, and cytotoxic tests show effective cancer cell death.

Deep learning (DL)‐based advancements in prostate cancer imaging: Artificial intelligence (AI)‐based segmentation of 68Ga‐PSMSA PET for tumor volume assessment

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
This review highlights the use of 68Ga‐PSMA PET in prostate cancer (PC) for tumor volume quantification, crucial for staging, treatment planning, and prognosis. Traditional manual segmentation methods are time‐consuming and variable, while AI‐based segmentation techniques, particularly deep learning models like convolutional neural networks, offer ...

Nrf2‐Mediated Ferroptosis Is Involved in Berberine‐Induced Alleviation of Diabetic Kidney Disease

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is the most common and serious complication of diabetes mellitus. Currently, there is a lack of safe and effective preventive strategies for DKD. The study aimed to explore the preventive effects and potential mechanisms of berberine (BBR) against DKD.
