A New XYZ Compliant Parallel Mechanism for Micro-/Nano-Manipulation: Design and Analysis

open access: yesMicromachines, 2016
Based on the constraint and position identification (CPI) approach for synthesizing XYZ compliant parallel mechanisms (CPMs) and configuration modifications, this paper proposes a new fully-symmetrical XYZ CPM with desired motion characteristics such as ...

Work space analysis of a new instrument for Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES)

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2022
Minimally invasive procedures such as Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) require powerful, small, and flexible instruments. A cable-driven instrument was developed, which is able to retract tissue to create sufficient space for an ...

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Kinematic analysis of kinases and their oncogenic mutations – Kinases and their mutation kinematic analysis

open access: yesMolecular Informatics
AbstractProtein kinases are crucial cellular enzymes that facilitate the transfer of phosphates from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to their substrates, thereby regulating numerous cellular activities. Dysfunctional kinase activity often leads to oncogenic conditions.

Slip Localization Intensification Mediated by Grain Boundary Sliding in a Polycrystalline Nickel‐Based Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The temperature dependence of fatigue behavior in nickel‐based superalloys is investigated through high‐resolution measurements of plastic localization. While increasing temperature reduces localization and enhances fatigue performance in René 88DT, Inconel 718 exhibits a sharp degradation at intermediate temperature due to intensified slip ...

Kinematical Analysis of the Cepheid Variables

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of Japan, 1963
Abstract The selected 146 Cepheids, for which accurate photometric measurements and also radial velocity and/or proper motion data exist, were used to determine a set of values concerning the motion of the stars and the distance scale of the Galaxy.
