Automated Sketching of Non-Fractionated Kinematic Chains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The sketching problem arises frequently in the conceptual design of mechanisms, especially in the enumeration process where a large number of topological solutions automatically generated must be analyzed. This paper presents a new graph layout algorithm

Palatable‐Food–Driven Top‐Down Circuit Inhibits PVNCRF Activity to Mitigate Stress Via Peri‐PVNCRFR1 Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Palatable food alleviates stress and prevents anxiety. This study uncovers a dedicated neural pathway: dopamine release in the PFC activates D1R neurons, whose projections to the peri‐PVN engage a population of anxiolytic CRFR1 neurons. These neurons then inhibit stress‐induced hyperactivity of PVNCRF neurons, providing a circuit‐level explanation for ...

Physics‐Informed Neural Network‐Enabled Forward Prediction and Inverse Design of Ring Origami

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a KRT‐PINN framework that integrates Kirchhoff rod theory with physics‐informed neural networks for the forward prediction and inverse design of ring origami consisting of closed‐loop rods. The framework predicts stable states of segmented rings with prescribed natural‐curvature profiles and determines the natural‐curvature profiles ...

Towards Real‐Time Monitoring of Soft Robotic Systems in Endoscopic Application With Ultra‐Flexible Organic Transistor‐Based Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
The integration of ultra‐flexible, all‐organic, field‐effect transistor‐based strain sensors to soft structures is reported for the development of sensorized soft robots. The envisaged application is the development of next‐generation, controllable, and observable soft robotic catheters for endoscopic applications, such as drug delivery. Mechanical and

AI‐BioMech: Deep Learning Prediction of Mechanical Behavior in Aperiodic Biological Cellular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
AI‐BioMech is a deep learning framework that predicts the mechanical behavior of biological cellular materials directly from 2D images. By replacing traditional finite element analysis with semantic segmentation, it identifies stress and strain distributions with 99% accuracy, offering a high‐speed, scalable alternative for analyzing complex, aperiodic

Modelling the dynamics and kinematics of mechanical systems with multibond graphs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Franklin Institute, 1985
A method to model mechanical systems with multibond graphs is described. The method is based on the description of the vector velocity relation of a moving point in a rotating system. This relation is incorporated in a bond graph. Since bond graphs are based on the power conserving concept, the force or momenta relations are then available too.

Modeling and Simulation of Variational Rigid and Compliant Assembly for Tolerance Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Modern manufacturing processes are strongly affected by part and process variations. Understanding the final shape of the assembly is a crucial task to be achieved during the design stage to reduce cost and production time.
