Optogenetics studies of kisspeptin neurons
Optical systems and genetic engineering technologies have made it possible to control neurons and unravel neuronal circuit behavior with high temporal and spatial resolution. The application of optogenetic strategies to understand the physiology of kisspeptin neuronal circuits has evolved in recent years among the neuroendocrine community.

Hyperalgesic activity of kisspeptin in mice. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Kisspeptin is a neuropeptide known for its role in the hypothalamic regulation of the reproductive axis. Following the recent description of kisspeptin and its 7-TM receptor, GPR54, in the dorsal root ganglia and dorsal horns of the spinal ...

Intra-Testicular Signals Regulate Germ Cell Progression and Production of Qualitatively Mature Spermatozoa in Vertebrates [PDF]
Spermatogenesis, a highly conserved process in vertebrates, is mainly under the hypothalamic-pituitary control, being regulated by the secretion of pituitary gonadotropins, FSH and LH, in response to stimulation exerted by Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (

ABSTRACT Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder with a complex pathogenesis that includes disordered follicle development, hypothalamic–pituitary–ovarian (HPO) axis dysfunction, hyperandrogenemia, and insulin resistance. The risk of complications during pregnancy, such as gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and preeclampsia (PE)

Kisspeptin and seasonality in sheep [PDF]
Sheep are seasonal breeders, experiencing a period of reproductive quiescence during spring and early summer. During the non-breeding period, kisspeptin expression in the arcuate nucleus is markedly reduced. This strongly suggests that the mechanisms that control seasonal changes in reproductive function involve kisspeptin neurons.

Neuroanatomical evidence that kisspeptin directly regulates isotocin and vasotocin neurons. [PDF]
Neuropeptide kisspeptin has been suggested to be an essential central regulator of reproduction in response to changes in serum gonadal steroid concentrations.

The testosterone-dependent and independent transcriptional networks in the hypothalamus of Gpr54 and Kiss1 knockout male mice are not fully equivalent. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Humans and mice with loss of function mutations in GPR54 (KISS1R) or kisspeptin do not progress through puberty, caused by a failure to release GnRH.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) accelerates ovarian follicular depletion through atresia. This study investigated the therapeutic potential of aqueous (AE) and hydroethanolic (HEE) extracts of Cymbopogon citratus in mitigating PCOS‐induced ovarian damage (specifically ferroptosis, apoptosis, and oxidative stress) in a rat model of PCOS.
