Effect of Maternal CD163 Knockout on PRRSV Replication and Vertical Transmission

open access: yesAnimals
Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) depends on the CD163 receptor to establish infection. Although CD163-knockout (KO) pigs exhibit resistance to PRRSV-related respiratory disease, their reproductive performance following viral ...

Partial depletion of plasminogen activator inhibitor‐1 decreases subcutaneous fat cell hypertrophy and liver cholesterol in high‐fat‐fed female mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Obesity raises blood levels of PAI‐1, a protein linked to metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in people with obesity. In female mice fed a high‐fat diet, partially lowering PAI‐1 led to smaller subcutaneous fat cells and lower liver cholesterol, without changing body weight or insulin sensitivity.

Synaptic abnormalities and cytoplasmic glutamate receptor aggregates in contactin associated protein-like 2/Caspr2 knockout neurons

open access: yes, 2015
Central glutamatergic synapses and the molecular pathways that control them are emerging as common substrates in the pathogenesis of mental disorders.

Compensatory mechanisms in γδ T cell-deficient chickens following Salmonella infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Avian γδ T lymphocytes are highly abundant in the intestinal mucosa and play a critical role in immune defense against infectious diseases in chickens. However, their specific contributions to infection control remain poorly understood.

Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

Evidence for NAT1 knockout.

open access: yes, 2018
A. PCR of genomic DNA isolated from HeLa and HT29 NAT1 knockout cells. PCR was performed using a forward primer in the NAT1 5’UTR and a reverse primer in the CRISPR insert to produce a product of ~ 800 bp.Parental HeLa cells are shown on the left as a ...

Platelet-specific P2Y1 receptor deficient mice have suppressed pulmonary leukocyte recruitment in response to lipopolysaccharide

open access: yesRespiratory Research
A role for the P2Y1 receptor (P2Y1R) in platelet-driven inflammation has been established using a pharmacological approach, limited to an acute 4 h time span.

Immunization with the NcMYR1 gene knockout strain effectively protected C57BL/6 mice and their pups against the Neospora caninum challenge

open access: yesVirulence
Neospora caninum is an important protozoan parasite that causes abortion in cattle and nervous system dysfunction in dogs. No effective drugs and vaccines for neosporosis are available. Further elucidation of proteins related to N. caninum virulence will

Translophagy—A potential link between autophagy impairment and translational errors

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neurodegenerative diseases are characterised by the accumulation of abnormal proteins and protein aggregates, but their origin often remains unknown. We propose that selective autophagy removes damaged protein‐making machinery, preventing errors during protein synthesis.
