Delignification Pathways for the Engineering of Nanostructured Wood

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
Delignification severity in wood is determined by experimental parameters that control the removal of noncellulosic components, thereby shaping the resulting chemistry and microstructure. Although delignification is crucial for engineered wood fabrication, quantitative guidelines spanning different chemistries and processes are lacking.

Recent Advances in Lemongrass Essential Oil: Food Safety, Preservation, and Bioactivity in Food Systems

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Lemongrass essential oil (LGEO) has gained recognition as a natural preservative in food systems due to its distinctive phytochemical composition and multifunctional bioactivities. Dominated by citral and complemented by terpenes and phenolic compounds, LGEO demonstrates potent antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antibiofilm, and antioxidant

Influence of hemicelluloses content on the paper quality produced with Eucalyptus globulus fibres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The raw-material composition and the cooking conditions determine the pulp composition and this affect the behaviour of the pulp in the beating process and the papermaking potential.

Structural and Compositional Characteristics of Technical Lignin Derived From Non‐Wood Biomass: Bagasse and Kash

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Lignin is one of the available biopolymers on earth, so it can play a vital role in moving toward a bio‐based society. In this paper, lignin derived from non‐wood sources like bagasse and kash was characterized in order to facilitate its valorization. Lignin obtained from the soda liquor was considered as technical lignin, and it was compared with the ...

Influence of xylan content on the oxygen delignification performance of eucalypt kraft pulps as studied using prehydrolysis and xylanase treatments [PDF]

open access: yesBioResources, 2012
Common metrics for evaluating the efficiency of oxygen delignification include the kappa number and Klason lignin content. As a change in xylan content often leads to a change in HexA content, the kappa number must be corrected for the HexA contribution ...

Effect of Integrating Xylan Extraction from E. grandis into the Kraft Pulping Process on Pulp Yield and Chemical Balance

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
Kraft mills have the potential to pre-extract hemicellulose from wood as another value added product. The impacts of pre-extracting xylan on pulp and handsheet properties, sodium and sulfur balances, and chemical make-ups in the kraft pulping process of ...

Organosolv Pulping of Paraserianthes Falcataria [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The potential of organosolv pulping using Paraserianthes falcataria as a raw material was studied. organosolv pulping was carried out under 2 conditions of catalyst addition - 75% ethanol plus 0.05 M CaCl₂; and 75 % ethanol plus 0.10 M CaCI2; and ...
