Somatic mutations in the Ras oncogene family (KRas, HRas, and NRas) occur in up to 30% of human cancers. Due to this high mutation frequency and the recent observation that survival of KrasG12D-driven cancer cells depends on the continuous expression of the oncogene in vivo [1, 2], mutant Kras is an excellent therapeutic target.

The importance of circulating tumor products as „liquid biopsies” in colorectal cancer [PDF]
Liquid biopsies represent an array of plasma analysis tests that are studied to evaluate and identify circulating tumor products, especially circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA).

Amide local anesthetics (LA) affect tumor burden in various preclinical studies, possibly via their anti‐inflammatory properties. However, a translation into clinical evidence is still lacking. The current study demonstrates that LA ‐ even at clinically relevant concentrations – exert a strong anti‐tumoral effect in a complex ex vivo model patient ...

MicroRNA-203 predicts human survival after resection of colorectal liver metastasis. [PDF]
BackgroundResection of colorectal liver metastasis (CRLM) can be curative. Predicting which patients may benefit from resection, however, remains challenging. Some microRNAs (miRNAs) become deregulated in cancers and contribute to cancer progression.

Many known diseases arise from dysregulated gene expression, and differentially expressed genes can serve as biomarkers to distinguish diseased cells from healthy tissues. In this study, reconfigurable nucleic acid nanoparticles (recNANPs) are introduced that can detect overexpressed cancer biomarkers and subsequently release RNAi inducers to silence ...

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...
