Impact of Underlying Liver Disease on the Risk and Prognostic Factors of Breast Cancer Liver Metastases: A Retrospective Multicenter Cohort Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine factors influencing breast cancer liver metastases (BCLM) and assess the impact of underlying liver diseases (nonalcoholic fatty liver and HBsAg infection) on BCLM development. Methods Patients diagnosed with breast cancer at four affiliated hospitals in China between 2014 and 2024 were included.

Fibroblast growth factor 10 attenuates advanced liver fibrosis through hepatocyte fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 signalling

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
FGF10‐FGFR2 signaling is progressively impaired during liver fibrosis. FGF10 restoration protects hepatocytes from inflammatory and apoptotic injury. Hepatocyte FGFR2 mediates FGF10‐driven suppression of fibrogenic remodeling through the GSK3β/NF‐κB axis.

Melatonin and Quercetin Co‐Treatment Attenuates Hepatic Damage in Diabetic Rats by Mitigating Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
Quercetin and melatonin, alone or combined, effectively protect the liver in diabetic rats. The antioxidants reduce hyperglycemia, oxidative stress, and inflammation, preventing hepatic damage. ABSTRACT Liver complications in diabetes are very common, contributing to a high mortality rate, making it essential to develop strategies to minimize this ...

Ergothioneine Ameliorates Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: A Dual Strategy of Accelerated Ethanol Elimination and Reducing Oxidative Stress

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
Ergothioneine (EGT) ameliorates alcoholic fatty liver disease via a dual mechanism: accelerating ethanol clearance by protecting ADH/ALDH activity (serum EtOH decreased 54.4%), and reducing oxidative stress/inflammation via antioxidant restoration (GSH‐Px increased 198.2%) and NF‐κB suppression (IL‐1β decreased 67.1%), collectively reversing hepatic ...

Liver Fibrosis: Molecular Pathogenesis and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
We systematically summarized the etiologies, diagnostic approaches, and pathogenic mechanisms of liver fibrosis. Also, the therapeutic interventions for liver fibrosis were systematically classified into two main categories: etiological treatment and mechanism‐based antifibrotic therapies.
