Gestational Melatonin Supplementation Attenuates Maternal Sleep Deprivation‐Induced Steatohepatitis Susceptibility in Offspring

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 5, May 2026.
Maternal SD during pregnancy enhances the development of diet‐induced NASH in adult offspring of both sexes through an NR4A3‐dependent mechanism, characterised by heightened inflammation and increased apoptosis. Maternal melatonin supplementation effectively alleviates this increased susceptibility to NASH in offspring.

Associations between use of aspirin and magnetic resonance imaging‐derived liver fat and fibroinflammation

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 28, Issue 5, Page 3895-3902, May 2026.
Abstract Background The effects of aspirin on hepatic steatosis and fibroinflammation are unclear. The study aimed to examine the association between aspirin use and liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)‐derived liver fat and corrected T1 (cT1). Methods We used UK Biobank imaging cohort data.

Post‐to Pretreatment Ratio of Serum CXCL10 Level Predicts Short‐Term Liver Function Outcome in Compensated and Decompensated Cirrhotic Patients Due to Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Infection After Direct‐Acting Antiviral Therapy

open access: yesHepatology Research, Volume 56, Issue 5, Page 840-852, May 2026.
The post‐to pretreatment serum CXCL10 ratio was independently associated with short‐term liver function outcome following HCV eradication in cirrhotic patients. ABSTRACT Aim The prognostic value of serum C‐X‐C motif chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) levels for liver function was investigated in hepatitis C virus (HCV)–infected patients with compensated or ...

Multiple Periapical Lesions Influence the Expression of TLR4/NF‐κB Pathway Components and the Development of Hepatic Injuries in Healthy and Chronic Alcohol‐Consuming Rats

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, Volume 59, Issue 5, Page 863-872, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate the impact of multiple apical periodontitis (AP) on the expression of TLR4/NF‐κB pathway components, proinflammatory cytokine levels, and development of hepatic injuries in rats with and without chronic alcohol consumption. Methodology Thirty‐two rats were assigned to four groups (n = 8): Control, AP, Alcohol, and Alcohol+AP ...

Integrated Bulk and Single‐Cell RNA‐Seq Analysis Reveals Transcriptional Activation of PTGS2 by FOS in Progression From T2DM to T2DM‐Associated NAFLD

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) frequently coexist, exacerbating disease burden. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the progression from T2DM to T2DM‐associated NAFLD remain unclear. This study investigated the regulatory function of FOS‐mediated PTGS2 activation in this transition.
