Peptide‐directed nanovehicles enabling tumor‐selective ROS amplification and antitumor immunity

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Cancer cells are vulnerable to oxidative stress, yet exploit immune tolerance to escape destruction. In contrast, their metabolic profile is markedly altered to support rapid proliferation, accompanied by elevated production of reactive oxygen species (ROS).

The BioSAXS laboratory of the ITACA.SB Research Infrastructure

open access: yesJournal of Applied Crystallography, EarlyView.
We present a versatile state‐of‐the‐art X‐ray scattering laboratory within the ITACA.SB Research Infrastructure, enabling multi‐scale structural characterization of complex biological specimens and advanced materials through integrated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS/WAXS) techniques.

Goose herbivory alters soil microbial community functional potential in a sub‐Arctic wetland

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Herbivory alters below‐ground resource dynamics via direct and indirect mechanisms, yet its effects on microbial functional potential remain poorly understood. This limits our understanding of the mechanisms that link animal, plant and microbial functional roles in ...

Males are worse mothers: Comparing care patterns in a facultatively caring beetle

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Why should biparental care exist if offspring fare just as well when only one parent is present? In the facultatively dependent burying beetle, Nicrophorus vespilloides, manipulating environmental quality reveals that biparental care benefits offspring in form of lower personal immune requirement and parents in term of weight gain.

Targeting hexokinase 2 to induce breast cancer cell senescence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is a key enzyme linked to high tumour cell proliferation. Its inhibitors such as 3‐bromopyruvic acid (3‐BP) induce cancer cell death, highlighting HK2 modulation as potential anti‐cancer treatment. However, standard chemotherapies often cause the emergence of senescent cancer cells, which goes along with cell ...
