The Impact of Common Medications on Male Fertility: An Updated Systematic Review

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Compared with those of cytotoxic treatments, the potential effects of common medications on the fertility of men trying to conceive currently or planning to conceive in the future are less well described. The use of common medications may modify the gonadotropic axis, spermatogenesis, and epididymal maturation or alter male ...

Targeting hexokinase 2 to induce breast cancer cell senescence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is a key enzyme linked to high tumour cell proliferation. Its inhibitors such as 3‐bromopyruvic acid (3‐BP) induce cancer cell death, highlighting HK2 modulation as potential anti‐cancer treatment. However, standard chemotherapies often cause the emergence of senescent cancer cells, which goes along with cell ...

Psychological Stress Promotes Tumor Growth in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Models Through Myeloid Signaling

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Psychological stress promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression through coordinated regulation of macrophages and neutrophils. Noradrenaline activates ADRB2 signaling in intratumoral macrophages, leading to CXCL2 production and neutrophil recruitment.

Microbiome‐mediated immunity: Limited support from the gazelle dung beetle

open access: yesEcological Entomology, EarlyView.
Digitonthophagus gazella rely on a maternally inherited microbiome passed across generations via a maternal faecal pellet called the pedestal. We experimentally manipulated the presence of the pedestal, providing it to some individuals while withholding it from others to determine how pedestal microbiota may affect beetle immune potential.

Characterization of dermatan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate profiles during brain regeneration in Styela plicata

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Adult ascidians are capable of regenerating their entire brains following injury, and glycosaminoglycans have been shown to either promote or inhibit neuritogenesis. In this study, dermatan 2,6‐disulfate (D2,6S) was identified as the predominant complex carbohydrate in the ascidian brain.
