Protein degradation, color and textural properties of low sodium dry cured beef

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2019
In this study, the influence of Na content of dry-cured beef by partial replacement with KCl, L-lysine, and L-histidine was investigated during processing. Dry-cured beef aged over 57 days, compared to control groups (100% NaCl), salt substituted groups (

The Role of Histidine-rich Glycoprotein in Coagulation & Fibrinolysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The fibrinolytic system has an important role in maintaining vascular patency by restricting fibrin clot formation to prevent occlusion of the blood vessel.

Histidine-Specific Peptide Modification via Visible-Light-Promoted C–H Alkylation

open access: yes, 2019
Histidine (His) carries a unique heteroaromatic imidazole side chain and plays irreplaceable functional roles in peptides and proteins. Existing strategies for site-selective histidine modification predominantly rely on the N-substitution reactions of ...

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.

Knocking out histidine ammonia-lyase by using CRISPR-Cas9 abolishes histidine role in the bioenergetics and the life cycle of Trypanosoma cruzi

open access: yesMicrobial Cell
Trypanosoma cruzi, the causing agent of Chagas disease, is the only known trypanosomatid pathogenic to humans having a complete histidine to glutamate pathway, which involves a series of four enzymatic reactions that convert histidine into downstream ...

Biofilm formation of flor strains is inhibited by L-histidine.

open access: yes, 2014
(A) Biofilm formation at the air-liquid interface in 24-well microtiter plates for strains A9, M23, V80, 3238-32, 3238-32Δflo11 and S288c after 5 days of static incubation in 1.5 mL flor medium at 30°C in the absence (Ctrl) and presence of 10 mM of L ...

Self‐Assembled Crystalline Peptoid Nanomaterials as Metal‐Free Enzyme Mimics for Enhanced Carbon Dioxide Hydration and Precipitation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by metal‐free carbonic anhydrases (CAs) that achieve efficient catalysis without metal cofactors, we herein report a sequence‐defined supramolecular peptoid platform that mimics metal‐free CAs and exhibits hydrolytic activity via a supramolecular assembly‐mediated proton‐transfer mechanism.

Ionic Cocrystals of Racemic and Enantiopure Histidine: An Intriguing Case of Homochiral Preference

open access: yes, 2016
Ionic cocrystals (ICC) of l- and dl-histidine with lithium halides (LiCl, LiBr, LiI) have been prepared by solid state and solution methods, and structurally characterized in order to compare the behavior of enantiopure and racemic crystals in the ...

Graded Metallopolymer Structures with Shape‐Memory Abilities via DLP‐Based 3D‐Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents the digital light processing (DLP) based 3D printing of graded metallopolymers featuring shape‐memory abilities. The permanent shape can be recovered in two distinct steps with excellent rates. The obtained graded prints range from simple rod‐like structures to complex hollow materials.
