The clustering of L-type calcium channels (LTCC) for functional regulation of intracellular calcium signaling remains poorly understood. Here we applied super-resolution imaging to study CaV1.3 channel clusters in human iPSC-derived atrial cardiomyocytes

Considerable evidence supports a Ca2+dysregulation hypothesis of brain aging and Alzheimer's disease. However, it is still not known whether (1) intracellular [Ca2+]i is altered in aged brain neurons during synaptically activated neuronal activity; (2 ...

Voltage-gated calcium channels: Their discovery, function and importance as drug targets
This review will first describe the importance of Ca 2+ entry for function of excitable cells, and the subsequent discovery of voltage-activated calcium conductances in these cells.

Nimodipine in otolaryngology: from past evidence to clinical perspectives [PDF]
As L-type voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs) control Ca(2+) influx and depolarisation of cardiac and vascular smooth muscle, they represent a specific therapeutic target for calcium channel blockers (CCBs), which are approved and widely used to treat

Evolutionary Covariant Positions within Calmodulin EF-hand Sequences Promote Ligand Binding [PDF]
Intracellular calcium signaling is an essential regulatory mechanism through calcium-mediated signal transduction pathways involved in many cell processes, such as exocytosis, motility, apoptosis, excitability, transcription, and muscle contraction.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.
