Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

T-type Ca2+ Channels: T for Targetable [PDF]
In the last decade TTCC have been unveiled as key regulators of cancer cells biology and thus have been proposed as chemotherapeutic targets. Indeed in vitro and in vivo studies indicate that TTCC pharmacological blockers have a negative impact on the ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

BackgroundMultiple studies have shown that an NO‐induced activation of vascular smooth muscle BK channels contributes to the NO‐evoked dilation in many blood vessels. In vivo, NO is released continuously. NO attenuates vessel constrictions and, therefore,

Modelling the Effects of Nifedipine on Ventricular and Myometrial Cells of Pregnant Rats [PDF]
In this study we have used computational models to investigate the effects of nifedipine on two different cell types; the rat ventricular cell and the rat myometrial cell.

Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Calcium dynamics regulating the timing of decision-making in C. elegans
Brains regulate behavioral responses with distinct timings. Here we investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the timing of decision-making during olfactory navigation in Caenorhabditis elegans. We find that, based on subtle changes in

Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
