Modeling L-type Calcium Channel with Dihydropyridines [PDF]
Dyhydropyridines (DHPs) is a major class of L-type calcium channel (LCC) ligands, which have boat-like six-membered ring with NH-group at the stern, aromatic moiety at the bow, and various substituents at the port and starboard sides. DHPs demonstrate antagonistic or agonistic action, which was previously explained as stabilization or destabilization ...

Calcium in the initiation, progression and as an effector of Alzheimer's disease pathology. [PDF]
The cause(s) of sporadic Alzheimer's disease (sAD) are complex and currently poorly understood. They likely result from a combination of genetic, environmental, proteomic and lipidomic factors that crucially occur only in the aged brain.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Voltage-gated calcium channels: Their discovery, function and importance as drug targets
This review will first describe the importance of Ca 2+ entry for function of excitable cells, and the subsequent discovery of voltage-activated calcium conductances in these cells.

Simultaneous mapping of membrane voltage and calcium in zebrafish heart in vivo reveals chamber-specific developmental transitions in ionic currents [PDF]
The cardiac action potential (AP) and the consequent cytosolic Ca2+ transient are key indicators of cardiac function. Natural developmental processes, as well as many drugs and pathologies change the waveform, propagation, or variability (between cells ...

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Amplification of a calcium channel subunit CACNG4 increases breast cancer metastasis
Background: Previously, we found that amplification of chromosome 17q24.1-24.2 is associated with lymph node metastasis, tumour size, and lymphovascular invasion in invasive ductal carcinoma.

A computational model of excitation and contraction in uterine myocytes from the pregnant rat [PDF]
Aberrant uterine myometrial activities in humans are major health issues. However, the cellular and tissue mechanism(s) that maintain the uterine myometrium at rest during gestation, and that initiate and maintain long-lasting uterine contractions during

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.
