Diversity‐Oriented Two‐Step Annulative π‐Extension Enables Access to Structurally Complex Nanographenes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Pd‐catalyzed C–H arylation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with various aryltrimethylsilanes enables the preparation of structurally complicated arylated PAHs, which can be further transformed to nanographenes in a manner of two‐step annulative π‐extension (APEX) reaction.

Enhancing Near‐Room‐Temperature Thermoelectric Performance of n‐Type Mg3(Sb, Bi)2‐Based Materials via ZrB2 Heterointerface Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A conductive ZrB2 ceramic composite strategy was developed for Mg3(Sb, Bi)2 thermoelectrics to regulate carrier transport and phonon scattering through heterointerface engineering. The 1.0 wt.% ZrB2 composite achieved enhanced room‐temperature performance, with a power factor of 28.51 µW cm−1 K−2 and a peak ZT of 1.22 at 573 K.

Que permet une conscience linguistique accrue en termes de prononciation et de perception de la L2 ?

open access: yesCahiers d’Études Germaniques
In this study, we investigate how to teach the pronunciation of German as a second language (L2) to a group of students in the classroom, and what the benefits of such pronunciation classes are.

Macrophage PABPC4‐SPP1 Axis Orchestrates Immunosuppression in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the CRC microenvironment, macrophage PABPC4 binds to the 3′UTR of SPP1 mRNA to stabilize its expression, thereby sustaining M2‐like immunosuppressive macrophage polarization. Concurrently, this axis suppresses CD8+ T cell effector functions via CD44 signaling, collectively fostering an immunosuppressive niche that drives tumor progression.

Palmitoyl Acyltransferase Zdhhc17 Promotes Functional Recovery After Spinal Cord Injury by Targeting the Nuclear Transport Factors Kpna2 and Ipo9

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we demonstrate that Zdhhc17, acting as a PAT, suppresses neuronal apoptosis and promotes axon regeneration after injury, thereby enhancing functional recovery following SCI. In this context, Kpna2 and Ipo9 serve as novel palmitoylation substrates of Zdhhc17, whose palmitoylation prevents the injury‐induced degradation of their proteins ...

Learner Perceptions of L2 Pronunciation Instruction: A Comparative Study

open access: yesScience & Technology Development Journal
This study aims to better understand Vietnamese learners' views of potential learning problems and the impact of teacher-related factors on English pronunciation learning. It examines how more successful and less successful learners perceive pronunciation instruction and the problems they face when learning the L2 phonological system.

Digital storytelling in an L2 context, and its impact on student communication, engagement, and motivation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The communicative second language (L2) classroom requires a dual focus. On the one hand, students must be motivated (willing) to communicate, and teachers need to create activities that promote and facilitate peer interaction.

Comprehensibility, degree of foreign accent, and pronunciation: a comparison of L2 learners’ perspectives and L2 teachers’ assessments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Previous research has shown that second language (L2) speech rated with a strong foreign accent is highly intelligible and comprehensible, indicating intelligibility, comprehensibility, and degree of foreign accent are related but independent L2 speech ...
