High‐Throughput Screening and Interpretable Machine Learning for Rational Design of Bimetallic Catalysts for Methane Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Methane's efficient catalytic removal is vital for sustainable development. Bimetallic catalysts, though promising for methane activation, pose a design challenge due to their complex compositional space. This work introduces an integrated framework that combines high‐throughput density functional theory (DFT) and interpretable machine ...

Teaching and Learning Pronunciation: EFL Learners’ Views and Instructors’ Practices

open access: yese-Kafkas Eğitim Araştırmaları Dergisi
The discussion surrounding the significance of pronunciation in communication, both in a first language (L1) and a second language (L2), has been a subject of ongoing debate.

Brain‐Computer Interface Training Fosters Perceptual Skills to Detect Errors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Accurate perception of visuomotor errors underpins motor precision and learning, yet conventional behavioral training fails to improve sensitivity to subtle errors. Real‐time EEG‐based brain‐computer interface feedback targeting the error positivity component enhances perceptual learning of small errors.

Polish as L1, English as L2: the linguistic transfer impact on Second Language Acquisition stemming from the interlingual differences: implications for young learners education

open access: yesProblemy Wczesnej Edukacji, 2017
Research has shown that learners of different linguistic backgrounds make similar errors, which is due to linguistic transfer. Cross-linguistic similarities between L1 and L2 can result in: positive transfer, negative transfer, and differing lengths of ...

Cation Diffusion‐Mediated Displaced Reaction‐Transformation in Green Steelmaking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The removal of O lattice atoms by environmental H2 at the surface of Fe3O4 results in Fe enrichment, driving the inward diffusion of Fe cations into the bulk. Through hopping between unoccupied and initially occupied sites, cation diffusion triggers a spatially displaced reaction‐transformation and drives subsequent dynamic phase transformations and ...

Student attitudes towards high variability phonetic training in Spanish phonetics courses

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Applied Linguistics
High variability phonetic training (HVPT), in which listeners practice identifying stimuli spoken in a variety of voices, has consistently proven effective in improving listeners’ ability to differentiate and identify non-native sounds. Nevertheless, it

The Acquisition of Case in Spanish Pronominal Object Clitics in English-Speaking College-Level L2 Learners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Second language acquisition (SLA) of Spanish pronominal object clitics (POCs) has been a topic of research with regards to clitic placement (Houston, 1997; Lee, 1987; LoCoco, 1987; VanPatten, 1984; and VanPatten & Houston 1998), acquiring specific ...

Stabilized Cubic GeTe With Matched Grain‐Boundary Networks and Band Convergence for High‐Performance Dual‐Mode Thermoelectric Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
I‐doping stabilizes the cubic phase of GeTe and generates “electron‐transparent, phonon‐blocking” grain boundary networks while inducing valence‐band convergence. This synergistic structural‐electronic design enables effective electron‐phonon decoupling, achieving an exceptional average zTave of ∼1.62, a peak zT of ∼2.2, and enhanced mechanical ...

Transposable Element–Driven PIEZO Mutation Enhances Locust Flight in Plateau Hypoxia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why transposable elements (TEs) persisted or expanded in genomes remains a mystery. Using integrated analysis of TE macro‐ and microevolution in locusts, our results showed that thousands of TE insertions promoted widespread adaptive variation. Subfamilies of candidate adaptive TEs amplified and reshaped species‐level genomic architecture.
