Discovery of very nearby ultracool dwarfs from DENIS [PDF]
Received idate? / Accepted idate? Abstract. We report new spectroscopic results, obtained with UKIRT/CGS4, of a sample of 14 candidate ultracool dwarfs selected from the DENIS (Deep Near-Infrared Survey of the Southern Sky) database.

Friend, Not Foe: Lowered Tissue Reactivity to Long‐Term Polyimide Implants
The choice of optimal neural probe designs remains a major challenge in the field of neurotechnology. This study investigated the biocompatibility of several probe variations, including material, thickness, width, and implantation strategy. It highlights the clear advantage of soft polyimide probes over stiff silicon probes for better device ...

A Large Sample of JWST/NIRSpec Brown Dwarfs: New Distant Discoveries
Brown dwarfs are essential probes of stellar and planetary formation, yet their low luminosities pose challenges for detection at large Galactic distances.

Constraining L dwarf properties from their spectra is challenging. Near-infrared (NIR) spectra probe a limited range of pressures, while many species condense within their photospheres. Condensation creates two complexities: gas-phase species “rain out” (

Infrared parallaxes of young field brown dwarfs and connections to directly imaged gas‐giant exoplanets [PDF]
We have measured high-precision infrared parallaxes with the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope for a large sample of candidate young (≈10–100 Myr) and intermediate-age (≈ 100–600 Myr) ultracool dwarfs, with spectral types ranging from M8 to T2.5.

ABSTRACT Blood‐based liquid biopsies hold transformative potential for non‐invasive cancer management, but current approaches relying on rare circulating tumor components limit their broad clinical utility. Platelets, abundant in blood and mediating diverse cancer‐associated responses, represent a compelling yet largely unexplored alternative.

Observation of R-band variability of L dwarfs [PDF]
We report, for the first time, photometric variability of L dwarfs in the R band. Out of three L1 dwarfs (2MASS 1300+19, 2MASS 1439+19, and 2MASS 1658+70) observed, we have detected R-band variability in 2MASS 1300+19 and 2MASS 1439+19.

Infrared Spectroscopy of Brown Dwarfs: the Onset of CH4 Absorption in L Dwarfs and the L/T Transition [PDF]
We present infrared spectra of brown dwarfs with spectral types from mid L to T. The 0.9–2.5 μm spectra of three dwarfs found by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey contain absorption bands of both methane and carbon monoxide and bridge the gap between late L and previously observed T dwarfs.

The Strongest Magnetic Fields on the Coolest Brown Dwarfs [PDF]
We have used NSF’s Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array to observe a sample of five known radio-emitting late-L and T dwarfs ranging in age from ∼0.2 to 3.4 Gyr.

ABSTRACT Viruses often hijack host developmental programs to promote infection, but the mechanistic links between reproductive regulation and antiviral immunity remain incompletely understood. Here, we identify a virus‐triggered hierarchical degradation cascade that links antiviral immunity and fertility regulation in rice. We show that the rice grassy
