Low Molecular Weight Multistate Photoswitches Based on Simple Norbornadiene‐Triazine Scaffolds

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Our new polyswitchable norbornadiene‐triazine hybrids are promising candidates for molecular based data storage. These small, low‐molecular‐weight molecules can be both symmetric or contain different NBD chromophors and exhibit an unprecedently high variety of distinct switching states.

Evidence for a Volcanic Atmosphere on the Sub-Earth L 98-59 b

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Assessing the prevalence of atmospheres on rocky planets around M-dwarf stars is a top priority of exoplanet science. High-energy activity from M dwarfs can destroy the atmospheres of these planets, which could explain the lack of atmosphere detections ...

Compatibility Between HPEG Type PCEs With Various Anionic Charge Densities and Portland Cements With Different C3A Contents

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Evaluation of the compatibility between PCEs possessing varying anionic charge densities and Portland cements with different C3A contents. ABSTRACT This study focused on the compatibility of phosphate and sulfonate‐substituted polycarboxylate ether‐based water‐reducing admixtures (PCE) exhibiting different anionic charge densities with Portland cements

Histochemical indications for a chemically complex signal produced by the cervical gill slit gland of the pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The pygmy sperm whale (Kogia breviceps) possesses an exocrine gland associated with its false gill slit pigmentation pattern. The cervical gill slit gland is a compound tubuloalveolar gland that produces a holocrine secretion and displays maturational changes in size and secretory histology. While the morphology of the cervical gill slit gland

The Initial Mass Function of Stars and Brown Dwarfs in the Upper Sco Association

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
I present infrared spectroscopy of 37 brown dwarf candidates in the Upper Scorpius (Upper Sco) association, 35 of which are classified as young and cool, making them likely members.

Discovery of sexual dimorphism of the laryngeal sac in the common minke whale Balaenoptera acutorostrata

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Mysticetes, or baleen whales, have an air sac on the ventral surface of the larynx known as the “laryngeal sac.” The primary hypothesis regarding this structure's function is that it is involved in sound production. However, several other functions have been proposed, including air recycling, air storage, and even buoyancy control.
