Labor of love? The influence of work-conditions among self-employed and work stress

Abstract Self-employment represents work conditions distinct from wage employment. Applying concepts from the Effort-Reward Imbalance model to work characteristics typical to self-employment—autonomy, meaningfulness of work, and physical demands of work—we explore the association between these work conditions and work stress.
