Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

EFFECTIVENESS OF 12-WEEK OUTPATIENT PHYSICAL REHABILITATION OF PATIENTS AFTER NON-ST-ELEVATION ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROME WITH PERCUTANEOUS CORONARY INTERVENTION ON INFARCTION-RELEVANT ARTERY

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2017
Aim. To assess the efficacy of physical cardiorehabilitation in patients with acute  coronary  syndrome  non-ST-elevation  (NSTEACS)  and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on infarction-relevant artery.Material  and  methods.  To  the  prospective

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Laboratory diagnostics for Lyme disease

open access: yesCanada Communicable Disease Report, 2014
Lyme disease is on the rise in Canada. It is a notifiable disease, and when infection is disseminated, serological testing provides supplemental evidence to confirm a case.To describe the current diagnostic tests for Lyme disease, review the recommended approach to laboratory testing for Lyme disease and identify future research priorities for Lyme ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Validation of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay test-system for bevacizumab concentration determing in biological fluids

open access: yesРазработка и регистрация лекарственных средств
Introduction. One of the reasons for the development of many diseases primarily malignant is the increased expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). Bevacizumab is a drug that neutralizes the biological activity of VEGF.

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...

LABORATORY DIAGNOSTIC OF HUMAN BABESIOSIS

open access: yesRussian Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, 2019
Human babesiosis caused by parasitic protozoan Babesia spp. is sporadic zoonotic vector-borne infection. The course of babesiosis and prognosis depend on the type of pathogen and on the patient’s immunological status. Significance this disease is a severe, often fatal course with immunocompromissed patients resembling complicated falciparum malaria. In
