On the Issue of Herpes Infection as an Actual Problem Nowadays

open access: yesAktualʹnaâ Infektologiâ, 2016
Among persistent intracellular agents, a group of herpesviruses occupies the leading place after the prevalence. The World Health Organization (WHO) warns the international community of the danger of latent herpes infection pandemic. According to the WHO,

Interactive effects of protein nutrition, genetic growth potential and heligmosomoides bakeri infection pressure on resilience and resistance in mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ability of animals to cope with an increasing parasite load, in terms of resilience and resistance, may be affected by both nutrient supply and demand.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Excretory/secretory products from Trichinella spiralis adult worms ameliorate myocardial infarction by inducing M2 macrophage polarization in a mouse model

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2023
Background Ischemia-induced inflammatory response is the main pathological mechanism of myocardial infarction (MI)-caused heart tissue injury. It has been known that helminths and worm-derived proteins are capable of modulating host immune response to ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Herpesvirus infections of laboratory macaques

open access: yesJournal of Immunotoxicology, 2009
Non-human primates (NHPs), primarily macaques, are commonly used as non-rodent species in pre-clinical safety assessment studies. The use of macaques in such studies is increasing largely due to the development of biopharmaceutical and immunomodulatory therapies that necessitates extensive safety testing.

Major Histocompatibility Complex Class II Deficiency Beyond Infancy

open access: yesCase Reports in Immunology
Major histocompatibility complex class (MHC)-II deficiency is a rare autosomal recessive combined immunodeficiency, accounting for 4.1% of inborn errors of immunity (IEI) cases in North Africa and the Middle East.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Dengue virus activates polyreactive, natural IgG B cells after primary and secondary infection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
BACKGROUND: Dengue virus is transmitted by mosquitoes and has four serotypes. Cross-protection to other serotypes lasting for a few months is observed following infection with one serotype.
