Scale‐up of a monoclonal antibody CHO fed‐batch production in stirred tank bioreactors: Effect of hydrodynamic conditions and feeding regimen

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
Abstract Key hydrodynamic‐related parameters such as volumetric power input (P/V), impeller configuration, aeration strategy, and maximum gas sparge rate, as well as an appropriate feeding strategy, must be carefully selected to improve production yields in bioreactor.

Lac repressor - lac operator interaction. Circular dichroism study

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1981
The interaction between lac repressor and a small operator DNA fragment have been examined by circular dichroism spectroscopy. The binding of lac repressor on the operator induces a conformation change of the DNA which is different from that observed upon non specific binding on non operator DNA.

Expanding the Toolbox for Inducible Protein Expression With Automation‐enabled Generation of Glycomimetics

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Inducible protein expression is a cornerstone of many aspects of industrial and molecular biotechnological processes. 2′‐fucosyl isopropyl‐β‐D‐thiogalactopyranose (2′F‐IPTG) and 2′‐fucosyl isobutyl‐C‐galactoside (2′F‐IBCG) mimics were explored for protein expression studies.

Exploiting a Phage-Bacterium Interaction System as a Molecular Switch to Decipher Macromolecular Interactions in the Living Cell

open access: yesViruses, 2018
Pathogenicity islands of Staphylococcus aureus are under the strong control of helper phages, where regulation is communicated at the gene expression level via a family of specific repressor proteins.

Epigenetic mechanisms and therapeutic innovations in chronic pain‐associated neuropsychiatric co‐morbidities

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Chronic pain, marked by nociceptive sensitization and maladaptive neuroplasticity, affects 30% of the global population with escalating socioeconomic burdens. Epidemiological data show a 2‐3‐fold increase in neuropsychiatric co‐morbidities among individuals with chronic pain, where epigenetic dysregulation serves as a key mechanism linking ...

Nuclear domain 10-associated proteins recognize and segregate intranuclear DNA/protein complexes to negate gene expression

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2012
Background DNA viruses, such as herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), Simian virus 40 (SV40), and Cytomegaloviruses (CMV), start their replicative processes and transcription at specific nuclear domains known as ND10 (nuclear domain 10, also called PML ...

Seeing red; the development of pON.mCherry, a broad-host range constitutive expression plasmid for Gram-negative bacteria. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
The development of plasmid-mediated gene expression control in bacteria revolutionized the field of bacteriology. Many of these expression control systems rely on the addition of small molecules, generally metabolites or non-metabolized analogs thereof ...
