The effects of 5 days β-alanine supplementation on the velocity and the percentage o2max at the lactate threshold [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Purpose: To assess the effect of 5 days β-alanine supplementation on the velocity and the percentage of O2max ¬¬ (%O2max) at the lactate threshold (Tlac) during treadmill running.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

IMPORTANCE AND CORRECTNESS OF THE TERM “ANAEROBIC THRESHOLD”. THRESHOLD CHANGES OF COMPENSATORY AND ADAPTIVE BODY REACTIONS IN INCREASING PHYSICAL EXERTION

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал, 2014
A distinction of the physical exertion into phases is necessary for on-time decisionmaking of the correct clinical decisions in medicine and for evaluation of the level ofsportsmen professional preparedness in sport medicine.Aim.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) in a Patient With Compound Heterozygous OPA1 Variants: Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Super‐Refractory Status Epilepticus (SRSE) is a rare, life‐threatening neurological emergency with unclear etiology in many cases. Mitochondrial dysfunction, often due to disease‐causing genetic variants, is increasingly recognized as a cause, with each gene producing distinct pathophysiological mechanisms.

Arterialized and venous blood lactate concentration difference during different exercise intensities

open access: yesJournal of Exercise Science & Fitness, 2017
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference between arterialized and venous blood lactate concentrations [La] during constant-load exercises at different intensities. Methods: Fifteen physically active men cycled for 30 minutes

Role of ergoreflex activity in the pathogenesis of heart failure. The effectiveness of physical rehabilitation

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал, 2022
Aim. To assess the change in ergoreflex activity in heart failure patients with reduced left ventricular systolic function in the study of the effectiveness of physical training (PT) with original regimen, compared with PT with conventionally estimated ...

Methodological approach to the first and second lactate threshold in incremental cardiopulmonary exercise testing

open access: yes, 2008
Determination of an 'anaerobic threshold' plays an important role in the appreciation of an incremental cardiopulmonary exercise test and describes prominent changes of blood lactate accumulation with increasing workload.

Sex Representation in US Stroke Clinical Trials: A Decade of Trends and Challenges

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Stroke remains a major cause of disability and mortality in the US, with significant sex‐based disparities, and females remain underrepresented in stroke clinical trials. We aimed to examine sex representation in US‐based stroke clinical trials, identify trial characteristics associated with higher female enrollment (≥ 50%), and ...

Recovery after Running an “Everesting” Mountain Ultramarathon

open access: yesLife, 2023
Blood markers of muscle microdamage and systemic inflammation do not adequately explain the reduced performance observed over a prolonged recovery after running a mountain ultramarathon.
