Occurrence of choline in Lactobacillus plantarum

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1972
When Lactobacillus plantarum 8014 was grown on a Trypticase Soy Broth (TSB) type of medium, choline accumulated within the cells, whereas when the same organism was grown on a semisynthetic medium, no choline accumulation was observed. Only the addition of choline O-sulfate resulted in the accumulation of choline in cells grown on semisynthetic medium

Mechanism of dehydration inactivation of Lactobacillus plantarum

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1994
The mechanism of dehydration inactivation of Lactobacillus plantarum cells after vacuum-drying above saturated salt solutions was studied. The method used is based on the hypothesis that DNase diffuses into cells with damaged cell membranes/walls and hydrolyses the intracellular DNA.

Investigations of the state of the manganese in Lactobacillus plantarum

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1982
Abstract The Mn(II) in Lactobacillus plantarum, which constitutes a functional replacement for superoxide dismutase, is primarily associated with a complex large enough to be retained by a 0.45-μm cutoff ultrafilter. This ligand retards, but does not entirely prevent, dialysis of the Mn(II) from cell extracts.
