Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Synthesis of Spirolactones from Carbonyls via Carboborylation of N‐Sulfonylhydrazones with Alkoxycarbonylalkylboronic Acids

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Spirolactones are readily prepared from carbonyls via their N‐tosylhydrazones. The reaction involves carboborylation with ethoxycarbonyl‐substituted boronic acids, followed by oxidation and lactonization. Thermal or photochemical protocols enable versatility.

Three‐Component Synthesis of γ‐Amino Esters with α‐Quaternary Carbon Centers via NHC/Photoredox Dual Catalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
γ‐Amino acid derivatives with an α‐quaternary center are prevalent in medicinally important compounds. A dual N‐heterocyclic carbene/photocatalytic pathway is developed for the three‐component synthesis of α, α ‐disubstituted γ‐amino esters. This methodology allows for the rapid synthesis of diverse libraries of γ‐amino esters in good yields.

The stereochemistry of the Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction and the construction of 10-membered lactones. The enantioselective total synthesis of (-)-decarestrictine D

open access: yesJournal of the Brazilian Chemical Society, 2001
The use of the intramolecular Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction to construct 10-membered lactones is described. The influence of the nature of the protecting groups at C4 and C5 on the stereochemistry of the newly formed stereogenic center at C7 was ...
