A Photonastic Prototissue Capable of Photo‐Mechano‐Chemical Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mimicking energy transduction in prototissue assemblies remains a challenge of bottom‐up synthetic biology. In this work, prototissues integrating protocells with photothermal gold nanoparticle proto‐organelles and a thermoresponsive polymeric proto‐cortex are developed.

Acetylcholinesterase Inhibitory Potential of Various Sesquiterpene Analogues for Alzheimer’s Disease Therapy

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2021
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a gradually growing irreversible illness of the brain that almost affects every fifth person (aged > 80 years) in the world. World Health Organization (WHO) also revealed that the prevalence of this disease will enhance (upto ...

Functionalized Antifouling Polymer Brushes for Biospecific Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Modern biosensors offer high sensitivity but often struggle with long‐term stability and selectivity for specific targets. Antifouling polymer brushes help enhance both stability and selectivity. In this review, we compare recent antifouling coatings, their design parameters, and how they are integrated with biorecognition elements for improved ...

Durable Bio‐Based Nanocomposite Coating on Urinary Catheters Prevents Early‐Stage CAUTI‐Associated Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A stable bio‐based nanocomposite coating for urinary catheters is developed using a simple, environmentally‐friendly sonochemical process. The coating, integrating antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and antioxidant properties, effectively tackled multiple early‐stage pathogenic factors associated with catheter‐associated urinary tract infections.

Synthesis of spirolactones from carbonyls via carboborylation of N‐sulfonylhydrazones with alkoxycarbonylalkylboronic acids

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Accepted Article.
A straightforward synthesis of spirolactones from carbonyls via N‐tosylhydrazones is described. The process consist in the reaction between the N‐tosylhydrazone and ethoxycarbonylethylboronic acid or ethoxycarbonylpropylboronic acid, leading to spiro γ‐butyrolactones or δ‐valerolactones respectively. The transformation takes place by carboborylation of

Investigation of aroma carryover risk in a pilot plant and on industrial scale when bottling aromatised and subsequent regular wines on the same filling line

open access: yesOENO One
Aromatised wine-based beverages and regular wines are commonly bottled on the same bottling line. Sealings installed in the bottling line absorb added aroma compounds from the aromatised wine-based beverages and a subsequent release of the absorbed aroma

In silico investigation of lactone and thiolactone inhibitors in bacterial quorum sensing using molecular modeling [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
In the present study, the origin of the anti-quorum sensing (QS) activities of several members of a recently synthesized and in vitro tested class of lactone and thiolactone based inhibitors were computationally investigated. Docking and molecular dynamic (MD) simulations and binding free energy calculations were carried out to reveal the exact binding
