A novel lane changing algorithm with efficient method of lane detection
2013 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Biomimetics (ROBIO), 2013This paper presents an efficient method of lane detection and apply the detection results in vehicle auto lane departure. The inverse perspective mapping image is taken for line detection. During image preprocessing, PPHT method and a third degree Bezier spline are applied for line fitting step.

Automated lane change controller design
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2003The primary focus of study in this paper is the background control theory for automated lane change maneuvers. We provide an analytic approach for the systematic development of controllers that will cause an autonomous vehicle to accomplish a smooth lane change suitable for use in an Automated Highway System.

Lane-Changing Model with Explicit Target Lane Choice
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2005The lane-changing model is an important component of microscopic traffic simulation tools. With the increasing popularity of these tools, a number of lane-changing models have been proposed and implemented in various simulators in recent years. Most of these models are based on the assumption that drivers evaluate the current and adjacent lanes and ...

MTS-DeepNet for lane change prediction
2016 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN), 2016Time series data are ubiquitous and are of importance in many application problems in engineering, science, medicine, economics and entertainment. Many real world pattern classification problems involve the processing and analysis of multiple variables in the temporal domain.

Unsafe lane changes have been identified as a common factor in motor vehicle accidents. It would be helpful, particularly for automated vehicles, to know if there are behaviors of vehicles, beyond a directional signal, or characteristics of the traffic environment that correlated with a higher probability of an unsafe lane change (lane changes without ...

Changing Lanes: A Reanimation of Shell Oil’s Carol Lane
2021This digital dissertation, “Changing Lanes: A Reanimation of Shell Oil’s Carol Lane,” is a case study of a mid-20th-century public relations (PR) program, sponsored by Shell Oil and Shell Canada, that targeted American and Canadian women motorists. From 1947 to 1974, Carol Lane was Women’s Travel Director for Shell Oil Company and the face and voice of
