Tensor perturbations and thick branes in higher-dimensional f(R) gravity

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We study brane worlds in an anisotropic higher-dimensional spacetime within the context of f(R) gravity. Firstly, we demonstrate that this spacetime with a concrete metric ansatz is stable against linear tensor perturbations under certain conditions ...

Black hole evaporation and large extra dimensions

open access: yes, 2000
We study the evaporation of black holes in space-times with extra dimensions of size L. We first obtain a potential which describes the expected behaviors of very large and very small black holes and then show that a (first order) phase transition ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

A new mechanism for symmetry breaking from nilmanifolds

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
We present a method to obtain a scalar potential at tree level from a pure gauge theory on nilmanifolds, a class of negatively-curved compact spaces, and discuss the spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism induced in the residual Minkowski space after ...

Analytical Green’s functions for continuum spectra

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Green’s functions with continuum spectra are a way of avoiding the strong bounds on new physics from the absence of new narrow resonances in experimental data.

Heterotic Braneworld Gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In the past decade, there has been considerable interest in braneworld scenarios where the universe lives on a brane in a higher-dimensional bulk and gravity is modified.

Supersymmetric large extra dimensions are small and/or numerous [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2000
Recently, a scenario has been proposed in which the gravitational scale could be as low as the TeV scale, and extra dimensions could be large and detectable at the electroweak scale. Although supersymmetry is not a requirement of this scenario, it is nevertheless true that its best-motivated realizations arise in supersymmetric theories (like M theory).

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.
