Modeling of transverse mode interaction in large-mode-area fiber amplifiers
We model the transverse mode interaction in a large-mode-area fiber amplifier by solving the Fresnel wave equation including local gain saturation. In order to calculate the electric field distribution we apply a finite difference beam propagation method, which is followed by the derivation of the modal powers and modal polarization states.

Large-mode-area fibers operating near single-mode regime
Lower NA in large-mode-area fibers enables better single-mode operation and larger core diameters. Fiber NA has traditionally been limited to 0.06, mostly due to the control tolerance in the fabrication process. It has been recognized recently that transverse mode instability is a major limit to average power scaling in fiber lasers.

Extreme large mode area in single-mode pixelated Bragg fiber
This paper reports the design and the fabrication of an all-solid photonic bandgap fiber with core diameter larger than 100 µm, a record effective mode area of about 3700 µm2 at 1035 nm and robust single-mode behavior on propagation length as short as 90 cm.

All Solid Multistep-Index Core Large Mode Area Single-Mode Fiber
In this paper, a large-mode-area (LMA) single-mode fiber based on multistep-index core structure is proposed. The multistep-index core increases the mode field area (MFA).

Bend-resistant octo-wing silica segmented cladding fiber with high index rings
We have proposed a novel segmented cladding fiber (SCF) design and the bending effects were investigated in detail. The proposed SCF with large mode area properties has a uniform circular core and octo-wings of rods with higher refractive index than the ...

Anti-Resonant Fiber with Large Mode Area and Ultra-High HOMER for Near-Infrared High-Power Laser
A novel anti-resonant hollow-core fiber (AR-HCF) is proposed. The fiber uses cross-nested circular cladding tubes including single-nested and non-nested tubes in the near-infrared spectral region of 1.3–1.7 μm.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Supercontinuum generation in large mode-area microstructured fibers
Supercontinuum generation in large mode-area microstructured fibers is demonstrated by launching into the fiber ns pulses from a passively Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The special properties of these fibers open the way to compact, single-mode, high-power supercontinuum sources with a low divergence of the output beam.

Large mode area silicon microstructured fiber with robust dual mode guidance [PDF]
A silicon microstructured fiber has been designed and fabricated using a pure silica photonic bandgap guiding fiber as a 3D template for materials deposition. The resulting silicon fiber has a micron sized core but with a small core-cladding index contrast so that it only supports two guided modes.
