Condition Relative to Phenotype for Bass Populations in Southern Arkansas Lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Southern Arkansas reservoir largemouth bass populations (Micropterus salmoides) are often supplemented with stocks of Florida bass (M. floridanus) in an attempt to boost the frequency of hybrid and trophy bass.

Food Intake of the Largemouth Bass

open access: yesTransactions of the American Fisheries Society, 1974
Abstract During 18 months of electrofishing a sample of 991 adult largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) was taken from Crab Orchard Lake. The stomach contents were removed in the field with a gastroscope. Gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum) constituted the principal forage fish. Approximately 50% of the bass collected had empty stomachs.

Effects of feeding pattern on growth, immunity and intestinal flora of GIFT tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
The omnivorous GIFT tilapia (Genetically Improved Farmed Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus)) and carnivorous largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides) were fed in four feeding patterns to compare the compensatory growth for fish species with different feeding

Errors in Length-weight Parameters at FishBase.org [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: FishBase.org is an on-line database of fish related data that has been cited over 1500 times in the fisheries literature. Length-weight relationships in fish traditionally employ the model, W(L) = aL^b^, where L is length and W is weight ...

Changes in Behavior, Movement, and Home Ranges of Largemouth Bass Following Large-scale Hydrilla Removal in Lake Seminole, Georgia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
About 1,200 ha of hydrilla ( Hydrilla verticillata L.f. Royle) was eliminated in the Spring Creek embayment of Lake Seminole, Georgia, using a drip-delivery application of fluridone (1- methyl-3-phenyl-5-[3-(trifluoromethl) phenyl]-4(1H)-pyridinone)

Pathogenicity characterization, immune response mechanisms, and antiviral strategies analysis underlying a LMBV strain in largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports
Largemouth bass virus (LMBV) always causes a high mortality rate and results in severe economic losses among cultivated largemouth bass. However, the pathogenic mechanism of LMBV is still unclear and there is still no specific antiviral treatment so far.

Shallow-Water Piscivore-Prey Dynamics in California's Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta

open access: yesSan Francisco Estuary and Watershed Science, 2007
