Maintenance of Octopus vulgaris Type II paralarvae in an estuarine area
We assessed the survival of paralarvae kept in a floating wooden box attached to an oyster extensive cultivation system with no extra food supply. A total of 7700 newly hatched paralarvae were maintained in a 10.5-L floating box (7 cm height × 30 cm ...

Exploring Isochrysis galbana Biomass Formats: Effects on Live Prey Oxidative Status and Lipid Profiles for Their Potential Use in Aquaculture Larval Nutrition. [PDF]
Feeding marine larvae commonly relies on live prey, which must be enriched with lipid emulsions and/or microalgae rich in long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC‐PUFA) before being added to larval tanks. This enrichment enhances the nutritional value of live feed and supports larval health and growth.

Utilizing Brachionus biodiversity in marine finfish larviculture [PDF]
Mouth gape sizes of marine finfish larvae determine the size of rotifer prey that can be ingested, so providing appropriate size rotifers controls the success of larval rearing. It is difficult for hatcheries to maintain pure cultures of multiple rotifer species by long-term serial dilution without cross-contamination.

Unobserved mortality occurs early in larval walleye (Sander vitreus) aquaculture
One of the most persistent challenges in walleye larviculture is the high rate of unobserved mortality occurring within the first 30 days post-hatch. Walleye larviculture is characterized by high mortality rates, but oftentimes, only a fraction of the ...
