Simulation of Laser-Compton Cooling of Electron Beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
We study a method of laser-Compton cooling of electron beams. Using a Monte Carlo code, we evaluate the effects of the laser-electron interaction for transverse cooling. The optics with and without chromatic correction for the cooling are examined.

Effect of Heat Sink and Cooling Mediums on Ferrite Austenite Ratio and Distortion in Laser Welding of Duplex Stainless Steel 2205

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2019
In order to control the ferrite and austenite percentage in duplex stainless steel welding, many researchers try to change the laser welding parameters and cooling medium, but ignore to study the influence of heat sink effect on weld strength.

Cooling devices in laser therapy

open access: yesJournal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery, 2016
Cooling devices and methods are now integrated into most laser systems, with a view to protecting the epidermis, reducing pain and erythema and improving the efficacy of laser. On the basis of method employed, it can be divided into contact cooling and non-contact cooling.

Three-dimensional model of small signal free-electron lasers

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2011
Coherent electron cooling is an ultrahigh-bandwidth form of stochastic cooling which utilizes the charge perturbation from Debye screening as a seed for a free-electron laser.

Raman cooling and heating of two trapped Ba+ ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We study cooling of the collective vibrational motion of two 138Ba+ ions confined in an electrodynamic trap and irradiated with laser light close to the resonances S_1/2-P_1/2 (493 nm) and P_1/2-D_3/2 (650 nm). The motional state of the ions is monitored

Analysis of the Strength and toughness of welded joints in ultra high strength steel with a step-cooling laser welding

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
To address the strength-toughness mismatch in ultra-high strength steel welded joints, a step-cooling process inspired by the Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) principle was proposed and its impact on the mechanical properties of welded joints was ...

Optimizing Laser Sintering Parameters and Cooling Channel Designs for Enhanced Injection Molding of Medical Tube Connectors

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering
Respiratory equipment disconnections in hospitals pose severe risks, including hypoxia and mortality. Suboptimal tube connector quality, often worsened by traditional cooling mold designs, results in uneven thermal equilibrium, product deformation, and ...

Laser cooling in the Penning trap: an analytical model for cooling rates in the presence of an axializing field

open access: yes, 2007
Ions stored in Penning traps may have useful applications in the field of quantum information processing. There are, however, difficulties associated with the laser cooling of one of the radial motions of ions in these traps, namely the magnetron motion.
