Single-mode-laser phase dynamics
Physical Review A, 1993We study the phase dynamics of a single-mode ring laser described by the complex Maxwell-Bloch equations. We identify three reference-frame frequencies and determine the properties of the field dynamics observed in these frames. In one of these reference frames, the phase jumps are always equal to π, irrespective of the detuning, while in another ...

Laser Dynamics with Competing Instabilities
Physical Review Letters, 1987Successive transitions from Hopf bifurcation to Shilnikov chaos and eventually to regular spiking are observed in a laser with feedback on increase of a control parameter. Each one of these regimes is due to the dominant attraction of one at a time among three coexisting unstable fixed points.

There is an increasing number of different methods now being used to obtain population inversion in gas lasers. The versatility in gas laser systems has extended the range of wavelengths obtainable and has had an impressive effect on laser output characteristics.

Laser-Induced Magnetization Dynamics
2007During the past few years, a wealth of new data on laser-induced ultra-fast magnetization dynamics in ferromagnetic metals has become available. Many of the recent approaches employed time-resolved magneto-optical strategies. In principle, these experiments have provided detailed insight into the fundamental physics involved, but it has become clear ...

Laser dynamics of new fiber soliton lasers
OECC/ACOFT 2008 - Joint Conference of the Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference and the Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology, 2008Modelocked fiber lasers have become an platform for investigating new soliton phenomena. Laser dynamics of two interesting high-repetition-rate new fiber soliton lasers (asynchronous modelocked and phase-modulation-induced bound-state) are investigated both theoretically and experimentally.

Low-frequency dynamics of lasers
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 1996An approach to nonlinear dynamics of multimode lasers is developed. It is based on the concept of two systems of eigenoscillations: optical modes and relaxation oscillations. The importance of a correct (not arbitrary) choice of a model is underlined. Characteristic features of two different rate equation models are formulated and compared. A method of

The departure of the behaviour of large ring laser gyros from the ideal is examined. A detailed description of the experimental operation of large ring lasers is provided along with several new innovations in equipment layout, data collection and especially in data reduction. The limits on gyro performance due to noise are investigated.

CO2 laser dynamics with feedback.
Physical review. A, Atomic, molecular, and optical physics, 1995The validity of the four-level model is controlled in an experiment with a CO2 laser with electronic feedback. A global application of center manifold theory allows one to reduce the number of varieties from six to four. Qualitative differences are found with the case of loss modulations.

Ultrafast Laser-Induced Magnetization Dynamics
Frontiers in Optics 2009/Laser Science XXV/Fall 2009 OSA Optics & Photonics Technical Digest, 2009Recent developments in ultrafast laser-induced magnetization dynamics will be presented. Particular emphasis will be on efforts aiming at a fundamental understanding of microscopic processes, and laser-induced spin momentum transfer in especially engineered magnetic multilayers.
