Dynamic Laser Wavelength Selection
IBM Journal of Research and Development, 1966This paper describes the dynamic selection of the emission wavelengths of a laser by insertion of a dispersive tunable electro-optic Q-spoiler within the laser cavity. Five different oscillation wavelengths of an argon ion laser have been individually selected by varying the voltage on the KD*P electro-optic crystals in the Q-spoiler.

Tunable isolated attosecond X-ray pulses with gigawatt peak power from a free-electron laser
Nature Photonics, 2019The quantum-mechanical motion of electrons in molecules and solids occurs on the sub-femtosecond timescale. Consequently, the study of ultrafast electronic phenomena requires the generation of laser pulses shorter than 1 fs and of sufficient intensity to

The physical mechanisms responsible for the annealing of ion‐implanted semiconductors have been identified and characterized for a wide range of materials and annealing conditions. Our approach emphasizes the use of in‐situ dynamical measurements of the optical properties in addition to post annealing measurements using Rutherford backscattering and ...

The existing methods for controlling laser dynamics are considered and classified depending on a type of the control and on a control goal. I describe the most important, in my opinion, theoretical and experimental results which can help in solving some real fundamental and technological problems.

In many respects the plasma may be considered as a medium that assumes any form provided by external boundaries and forces acting on it from outside. The main parameters are a local particle density \(n(\mathbf {x}, t)\), mass density \(\rho (\mathbf {x},t)\), flow velocity \(\mathbf {u}(\mathbf {x}, t)\), and internal energy density \(\epsilon _ ...

Let us assume that an active medium placed inside a Fabry- Perot resonator, formed by mirrors whose reflection coefficients are r1 and r2, is illuminated with a plane electromagnetic wave (pump wave of frequency ?p) whose wave vector is directed along the resonator axis (longitudinal axial pumping).

The work described in this thesis concerns the investigation of diode laser dynamics on the time scale of 100 picoseconds or less. Predictive models based upon the diode laser rate equations are developed. A requirement of such predictive models is that the necessary parameter values be determined by methods independent of the comparison between model ...
