Ultrasonic sensing using Yb3+/Er3+-codoped distributed feedback fibre grating lasers. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Yb3+/Er3+-codoped distributed feedback (YbEr-DFB) fibre grating lasers have been investigated for the detection of ultrasonic Lamb waves generated in an aluminum plate. Two sensor configurations have been investigated. A path length imbalanced readout

Measurements of laser properties of organic semiconductors to predict organic laser thresholds [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
In the context of the quest of organic laser diode, we propose a method to compare organic gain semiconductors in terms of laser threshold before integrating them into laser cavity. This method is based on three types of measurements for each material: 1-

Theoretical study of the impact of adaptation on cell-fate heterogeneity and fractional killing

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Fractional killing illustrates the cell propensity to display a heterogeneous fate response over a wide range of stimuli. The interplay between the nonlinear and stochastic dynamics of biochemical networks plays a fundamental role in shaping this ...

Tunable and switchable dual wavelength lasers using optical fibre Bragg grating external cavities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Two novel external cavity lasers are demonstrated experimentally. The first utilises a Bragg grating fabricated in highly birefringent optical fibre and offers the ability to switch between modes that are separated in polarisation and wavelength.

Toluene Oxidation by Non-Thermal Plasma Combined with Palladium Catalysts

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2013
The oxidation of toluene in air was investigated using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) combined with a Pd/Al2O3 catalyst. When using only plasma, rather low selectivity towards CO2 was obtained: 32-35%.

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Continuous wave and modelocked femtosecond novel bulk glass lasers operating around 2000 nm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis reports on the development of glass-based femtosecond laser sources around 2 µm wavelength. In order to be able to produce 2 µm radiation the dopants used were trivalent Thulium (Tm³⁺) and trivalent Holmium (Ho³⁺) that could be optically ...
