Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Toluene Oxidation by Non-Thermal Plasma Combined with Palladium Catalysts
The oxidation of toluene in air was investigated using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) combined with a Pd/Al2O3 catalyst. When using only plasma, rather low selectivity towards CO2 was obtained: 32-35%.

Theoretical study of the impact of adaptation on cell-fate heterogeneity and fractional killing
Fractional killing illustrates the cell propensity to display a heterogeneous fate response over a wide range of stimuli. The interplay between the nonlinear and stochastic dynamics of biochemical networks plays a fundamental role in shaping this ...

Stable isochronal synchronization of mutually coupled chaotic lasers
The dynamics of two mutually coupled chaotic diode lasers are investigated experimentally and numerically. By adding self feedback to each laser, stable isochronal synchronization is established.

HIV‐1 establishes immediate latency in T cells expressing the viral Nef protein
Nef is a viral protein often omitted from HIV‐1 reporter viruses. Consequently, its role in viral latency is unclear. We developed three novel dual reporter HIV‐1 derivatives that express Nef and allow for detection of latent and productive infection. Using these reporters, we show that Nef does not affect the establishment of immediate viral latency ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Terahertz Time-Domain Spectroscopy Materials Parameters Extraction Using Neural Networks [PDF]
In this work, we present a novel approach to determine the refractive index n and the extinction coefficient κ from terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) measurements using artificial neural networks (ANNs).

High quality factors and room-temperature lasing in a modified single-defect photonic crystal cavity [PDF]
We propose and analyze a new photonic crystal cavity design that supports a dipole mode with a quality factor greater than 20,000. Such a high quality factor is obtained by precise tuning of the cavity length with minimal disruption of the surrounding ...

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.
