Finite element simulation of the liquid-liquid transition to metallic hydrogen
Hydrogen at high temperature and pressure undergoes a phase transition from a liquid molecular phase to a conductive atomic state, or liquid metallic hydrogen, sometimes referred to as the plasma phase transition (PPT). The PPT phase line was observed in

Movement Disorders in Aicardi–Goutières Syndrome and Response to Immunomodulation
ABSTRACT This study characterizes movement disorders and treatment responses in seven children with Aicardi–Goutières syndrome (AGS). We retrospectively evaluated motor phenotypes, neuroimaging, and interferon signatures in patients treated with baricitinib or anifrolumab. Spasticity affected all patients, while dystonia was present in 4/7.

Changes in Older Adults' Sexual Expression: A Latent Transition Analysis. [PDF]
Many older adults are sexually active, but how sexual expression - defined as the combination of behaviors, desires, and motivations - changes over time is unclear. We addressed this gap using longitudinal data on partnered and unpartnered heterosexual older adults (ages 57-85) from the US National Social Life, Health, and Aging Project (NSHAP; N = 2 ...

MOGAD Is the Most Common Cause of Isolated Optic Neuritis in Children
ABSTRACT Objectives The study aimed to characterize the clinical features, etiologies, and outcomes of isolated, first‐time pediatric ON in the post‐MOG‐IgG era. Methods This was a single‐center retrospective cohort study at Texas Children's Hospital of patients diagnosed with first‐time ON between 2018–2024, with follow‐up data collected through 2025.

The development of socio-motivational dependency from early to middle adolescence
Research on students’ motivation has shown that motivation can be enhanced or undermined by social factors. However, when interpreting such findings, interindividual differences and intraindividual changes underlying students’ perception of peers and ...

Determinants of Cross-Border Bank Acquisitions in Transition Economies: A Latent Class Analysis [PDF]
We analyze the microeconomic determinants of cross-border bank acquisitions in 16 transition economies over the period 1996-2006. By using a latent class discrete choice model we explicitly incorporate the macroeconomic and institutional heterogeneity of

Melting as a String-Mediated Phase Transition
We present a theory of the melting of elemental solids as a dislocation-mediated phase transition. We model dislocations near melt as non-interacting closed strings on a lattice.

ABSTRACT Objectives We aimed to determine the frequency of subclinical optic nerve (ON) lesions using MRI, optical coherence tomography (OCT), and visual evoked potentials (VEP) in radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS), and to assess their diagnostic and prognostic significance.

Effective Scalar Field Theory for the Electroweak Phase Transition
We investigate an effective model for the finite temperature restoration phase transition of the electroweak theory. It is obtained by dimensional reduction of the $3+1$ dimensional full theory and by subsequent integration over all static gauge degrees ...
