Clinical feasibility of endoscopic submucosal dissection with minimum lateral margin of superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesEndoscopy International Open, 2019
Background Esophageal stricture following endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for superficial esophageal squamous cell cancer (SESCC) has been associated with wide mucosal defects greater than three-quarters of the luminal circumference. Some patients

Effects of Dry Granulation Operating Parameters on Forming Quality

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
To address the issues of the existing dry granulation process, which mostly relies on manual adjustments based on empirical experience and lacks the analysis of theoretical data, a simplified model of tablet pressing based on a modified Drucker–Prager ...

The heat shock response plays an important role in TDP-43 clearance: evidence for dysfunction in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesBrain : a journal of neurology, 2016
Insoluble TDP-43 inclusions are the pathological hallmark of ALS and tau-negative frontotemporal lobar degeneration. Chen et al. show that the heat shock response (HSR), which regulates chaperone expression, is compromised in an ALS mouse model and in ...

The Role of VCP Mutations in the Spectrum of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis—Frontotemporal Dementia

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) are two neurological diseases which, respectively, and primarily affect motor neurons and frontotemporal lobes.

Impaired glymphatic function in the early stages of disease in a TDP-43 mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesTranslational Neurodegeneration, 2022
Background Multiple lines of evidence suggest possible impairment of the glymphatic system in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). To investigate this, we used in vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to assess glymphatic function early in the course of ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Research on AH-model Vehicle Clearance Based on Dynamics Simulation Calculation

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective The AH-model vehicle combines the characteristics of A and B type model vehicles. Due to its structural differences from conventional metro vehicles, there are currently no corresponding standards on vehicle clearance in China at present, thus ...

USP10 Inhibits Aberrant Cytoplasmic Aggregation of TDP-43 by Promoting Stress Granule Clearance

open access: yesMolecular and Cellular Biology, 2022
TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is a causative factor of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Cytoplasmic TDP-43 aggregates in neurons are a hallmark pathology of ALS.
