GABAergic function in the lateral hypothalamus regulates feeding behavior: Possible mediation via orexin

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, 2019
Aim The lateral hypothalamus (LH) is known as the hunger center, but the mechanisms through which the LH regulates food intake are unclear. Since GABA neurons are reported to project to the LH, the present study investigated the role of GABAergic ...

Receptor‐Free Identification of Toxic Gases Enabled by Hygroscopic Aqueous Salt Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Water as a gas sensor coating sounds impossible—until it stops evaporating. Here, hygroscopic salt solutions (LiCl, LiBr, H3PO4) form non‐drying aqueous films on CNT chemiresistors under ambient air. Gases partition into these liquid layers, sometimes transforming into water, and generate salt‐specific resistance fingerprints across a four‐channel ...

Daily Bi-directional effects of women’s social media-based appearance comparisons, body satisfaction, and disordered eating urges

open access: yesJournal of Eating Disorders
We assessed the bi-directional relationships between upward appearance comparisons on social media with body dissatisfaction (BD) and disordered eating (DE) in women’s daily lives and the potential moderating effect of trait self-objectification on these

Three‐Dimensional Anomalous Hall Sensing Enabled By Spin–Orbit Torque Driven Domain Reconfiguration In Chiral Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A three‐dimensional magnetic field sensor is realized in chiral W/CoFeB/MgO multilayers, where spin–orbit torques reversibly reconfigure homochiral stripe domains. The symmetry of the torque enables offset‐free in‐plane sensing, while the reproducible domain reconfiguration extends the linear out‐of‐plane range. An anomalous Hall readout delivers large‐

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Development of a Three‐Axis Planar Hall Magnetoresistance Sensor Using a Superparamagnetic Nanoparticle‐Based Flux Guide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A printed superparamagnetic nanoparticle‐based flux guide enables the realization of a hysteresis‐free three‐axis magnetic sensor. This innovative architecture efficiently redirects out‐of‐plane fields to planar sensing elements, facilitating simultaneous vector detection without complex reset protocols.
