The “GABAergic Brake” on the Spinal Defecation Reflex: A Proposed Neurobiological Model Explaining Clozapine‐ and Benzodiazepine‐Induced Gastrointestinal Hypomotility and Ogilvie's Syndrome

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 3, September 2026.
Synergistic “Double Brake” Model on the Spinal Defecation Center in Clozapine‐Induced Constipation. Real‐world data shows BZDRs increase laxative risk in schizophrenia. Mitigating the central GABAergic brake via sedative optimization and maintaining gut microbiota homeostasis prevents fatal Ogilvie's syndrome.

Carbonyl stress markers are associated with binge‐eating/purging behavior of anorexia nervosa: A pilot study

open access: yesPsychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences Reports, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
This study investigated Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), reflecting carbonyl stress from glycation and oxidation reactions, as potential biomarkers for identifying binge‐eating/purging behaviors in anorexia nervosa (AN). Finding revealed higher fingertip AGE levels in the binge‐eating/purging subtype (ANBP) compared to the restricting subtype ...
