A Novel Function of Nonadecanoic Acid in Regulating Glucose Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies the odd‐chain fatty acid C19:0 as an endogenous ligand of GPR120 that promotes glucose homeostasis via Gαq signaling. In obesity, elevated palmitic acid suppresses endogenous C19:0 production through a miRNA–PPARα–HACL1 pathway, offering a promising direction for understanding the role of OCFAs in human health.

Alkyltriphenylphosphonium Binding to Cardiolipin Triggers Oncosis in Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Alkyltriphenylphosphonium, exemplified by TPP+‐C14, preferentially accumulates in mitochondria and selectively binds to cardiolipin, a key phospholipid of the inner mitochondrial membrane, causing loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, severe cellular ATP depletion, and calcium imbalance.

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.

RNF213 Is an Interferon‐Stimulated Gene That Targets Influenza A Virus NP and Activates MDA5 to Restrict Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNF213 is characterized as a dual‐functional antiviral effector. It directly mediates the degradation of the influenza A virus nucleoprotein (NP) while simultaneously activating the MDA5‐mediated innate immune signaling pathway. This coordinated response establishes a powerful host defense system against viral infection. ABSTRACT Influenza A virus (IAV)

Identification of Ubiquinones in Honey: A New View on Their Potential Contribution to Honey’s Antioxidant State

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Honey is composed of macromolecules arranged into multicomponent colloidal particles dispersed in a supersaturated sugar solution. The core part of colloidal particles in honey is made up of high-molecular weight protein-polyphenol complexes. We designed

Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

B4GALNT4‐Mediated Glycosylation of PDK1 Activates the PI3K‐AKT Signaling Pathway to Promote Prostate Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies B4GALNT4 as a key driver of prostate cancer (PCa). It shows that B4GALNT4 glycosylates PDK1 protein at the N531 site, which stabilizes the PDK1 and constitutively activates the PI3K‐AKT pathway. This mechanism promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The findings establish the B4GALNT4‐PDK1 glycosylation axis as

Nelumbo nucifera leaf extracts inhibit the formation of advanced glycation end-products and mechanism revealed by Nano LC-Orbitrap-MS/MS

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods, 2018
The inhibition of Nelumbo nucifera leaf (NNL) extract and its fractions on the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) was evaluated with different models. Changes in the conformational structure of bovine serum albumin (BSA) were analyzed by fluorescence spectrometry.
