HDR Versus LDR Gynecological Brachytherapy Revisited
Medical Dosimetry, 1993Despite the obvious breakthrough of high dose-rate (HDR) afterloading systems on the gynecological brachytherapy market, questions still remain regarding the transfer of available expertise gained throughout the last 80 years with low dose-rate (LDR) radium and cesium, especially regarding the conversion of LDR total dose into equivalent HDR dose per ...

LDR 2 LDR: University faculty communicating practice through theory
Journal of Leadership Studies, 2009AbstractAn act of leadership is always an act of practical theory. We lead because we hold visions of the world as it ought to be, because of the not yet, because of the potential that we see in ideas and people. Yet, there still exists a perceived binary between leadership theory (in the strong sense) and leadership practice, a binary that divides ...

Calibration of multiple LDR brachytherapy sources
Medical Physics, 2006A trend is underway toward the use of prepackaged low dose rate brachytherapy sources, which come in the form of strands, coiled line sources, preloaded needles, and sterile cartridge packs. Since the medical physicist is responsible for verification of source strength prior to patient treatment, development of prepackaged source strength verification ...

LDR Lite Benchmark: Description of the Core Model
International Conference on Physics of Reactors (PHYSOR 2024)We alleviate the lack of detailed, design-specific SMR-benchmarks by providing the first specifications of the LDR lite benchmark. This benchmark is based on the public version of the LDR-50 reactor design, developed at VTT since 2020 for low temperature heat production applications. The main characteristics of this 50 MWth integrated pressure water ...

SU‐FF‐T‐11: Dosimetry Comparison of LDR 137Cs and LDR 252Cf Brachytherapy Sources
Medical Physics, 2005Purpose: Hundreds of patients have received gynecological brachytherapy treatments in the US using applicator tube‐type (AT) low dose rate (LDR) 252Cf sources. However, its mixed‐field radiation dose distributions have not been characterized using the AAPM Task Group 43 dosimetry formalism, nor quantitatively compared to conventional photon‐emitting ...

Recover image details from LDR photographs
2013 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS2013), 2013In this paper, a novel self-adaptive curve, based on human visual model (HVM), is proposed for recovering details from low dynamic range (LDR) digital photographs, which are under-exposed or over-exposed or both. In order to improve the perceptual visibility, we utilize HVM to construct our method, which is able to take advantage of entire dynamic ...

Extended Neighbourhood Filter for LDR Displays
2019 IEEE 62nd International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2019Visual preservation and reproduction of subtle and feeble scene details is challenging during conversion from Hyper-spectral Image (HSI) to Low Dynamic Range (LDR) color images due to poor scene area to pixel density ratio, where a large geographical plane is mapped to a single pixel.

In-phantom calibration of Selectron-LDR sources
Radiotherapy and Oncology, 1990Source strength measurements were performed for cesium-137 spherical sources of nine Selectron-LDR remote afterloading systems in The Netherlands. The mean reference air kerma rate of a set of sources was obtained from air kerma rate measurements in a phantom at a distance of about 5.5 cm from a large number (24 to 30) of sources.
