Influence of Area Distribution Along the Span Direction on Flapping Wing Aerodynamics in Hover Based on Numerical Modeling Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing
This study performed a numerical investigation to explore the effect of span-wise area distribution on flapping wing aerodynamics in hovering configuration using an in-house developed flow solver.

Numerical investigation on characteristics of separation vortices between blades of two-dimensional cascade

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu
In this study, LES calculations by OpenFOAM were performed using five blade models with different blade thicknesses (original, quarter, half, 3-quarters, and filled) to investigate the characteristics of separated and reattaching flow between blades of ...

A species-transport model for circulation in a leading-edge vortex

open access: yesAdvances in Aerodynamics, 2022
In this study, we propose a model to predict circulation growth along the span of a rotating wing, in which circulation transport is represented as species transport.

Leading-Edge Vortex Characteristics of Surging-Translating Flexible Wings

open access: yesHavacılık ve Uzay Teknolojileri Dergisi, 2023
This study experimentally investigates the flow fields around rigid and chordwise-flexible wings, performing a rectilinear translational motion starting from rest.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Examination and Prediction of the Lift Components of Low Aspect Ratio Rectangular Flat Plate Wings

open access: yesAerospace, 2023
An investigation of the lift components present over low aspect ratio rectangular wings is presented. Wing aspect ratios ranging from 0.5 to 3 are examined using published experimental results and analytic analysis methods.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...
